Our friend Masahiro Ito, former mechanic for Jason Lawrence and Grant Langston, sent us these shots of the works Honda RC450Rs, campaigned at this weekend's All Japan National MX, at Sugo Raceland. Look closely, and you'll notice that the header pipe now exits the right side of the cylinder, wraps around the left side of the engine, and routes through the frame so that the muffler can still be mounted on the right side of the bike.
The bizarre routing allows a longer overall exhaust system, which provides more tunability. At casual glance, it looks as if the chassis and bodywork has been mildly modified to accept the new engine. Note the airbox boot now shows through on the right side of the bike. As is always the case with the exotic machines campaigned in the All Japan MX Series, there is a very good chance that this Honda is a sneek peek at what's to come in 2013. Other rumbling we've heard are that the 2013 Yamaha YZ250F will finally be EFI equipped, and that the 2013 KX250F will recieve chassis and bodywork updates, much like this year's KX450F.
Check out this cool Red Bull window sticker we spotted at our local Mobil gas station. WMX Champion Ashley Fiolek is everywhere! A happy belated birthday to our former columnist, too! Fiolek turned 21 on Saturday. (And we can only imagine how wild that celebration was!)
