Monday Kickstart Presented by One Industries – Houston SX

Round six of the Monster Energy Supercross series headed “east” for the first time this year, making a stop in Houston, Texas’ Reliant Stadium. The action on the track was exciting, as Team Honda’s Trey Canard got the first Supercross win of his career, and the Eastern Regional Supercross Lites Championship got underway, with Geico Honda’s Justin Barcia earning the third win of his career. But you already know all of that, right? Here’s what you might have missed in the pits, and more…

Geico Honda's Kevin Windham led half of the main event before mis-timing a tricky rhythm section and going down hard. K-Dub stayed on the ground for a bit, but eventually walked off. Windham is banged up but otherwise okay, no doubt thanks in part to the safety equipment he chooses to wear. In addition to a high-quality Shoei VFX-W helmet, K-Dub couples his Leatt Brace with the new Leatt Chest Protector, which he wears underneath his jersey.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Blake Baggett made his debut on Mitch Payton's team at Houston. After riding for the amateur team, Baggett spent his rookie professional year on the Rockstar Suzuki squad before "coming home." After starting the main in 19th, Baggett set the fastest lap time of the race en route to an impressive third at the finish.

Rock River Yamaha's Weston Peick qualified for his third Supercross main of the season. The husky Californian looks much more comfortable in the confines of a stadium this year, and he attributes it to more time on the "unique" Yamaha YZ450F.
