Eugene, OR (11/15/04) ¿ Team MotoSport Outlet, LLC today announced its team for the 2005 THQ World Supercross GP/AMA Supercross Series and AMA National Motocross Series.
MotoSport will have three full-time riders, racing 2005 Honda CRF250Rs both indoors and out, starting with two-time 125cc National Champion Steve Lamson, who is scheduled to ride the 125cc Eastern Regional Supercross Series and 125cc National Motocross Series.
“It’s a lot of work to run your own team like I did last year, Lamson said. “I love racing, and I’m still having a lot of fun out there, so I can’t wait to get going with the MotoSport team. They have all the support we need to be successful. This is going to be fun!
Greg Schnell, the 2004 US Open 125cc champion, will be with MotoSport Outlet as well in 2005, riding the 125cc Western Regional Supercross Series and the 125cc National Motocross Series.
“I’m excited to be on a new team, Schnell said. “This is going to be my second year on the CRF, and the bike is great already. I know what to expect from my bike, my competition and myself in 2005, and I’m really looking forward to big things.
Rounding out the full-time riders is multi-time Japanese National Champion Akira Narita, who will compete in the entire 125cc Western Regional Supercross Series and 125cc National Motocross Series.
“I’m very excited about joining Team Motosport Outlet for the 2005 season,” Narita said through his representative, Julie Eguchi. “They’ve got a great program in place and I think it’s going to be a really good fit for me. I’m eager to race in a new environment and to see what kind of results I can put up against some of the best riders in the world.”
Along with the three full-time riders, there will be four part-time riders under the MotoSport Outlet awning in 2005.
The first of those is most well-known for racing in the cold: former Snocross champion Tucker Hibbert, who will ride 125cc East.
“I’ve been staying with Kevin Windham, and I’m really going to be a different person this year, Hibbert said. “I can’t thank MotoSport Outlet enough for their help.
Joining him will be Randy Valade, also racing the 125cc East, and Ryan Abrigo, who will contest the 125cc West. Abrigo is from the Northwest, and is MotoSport Outlet’s newest development rider, riding out of the MotoSport Hillsboro shop.
Last, but not least, Estonian Juss Lansoo, who made a splash with a top-10 finish at the Glen Helen National, will compete outdoors for the MotoSport Outlet team full-time in 2005.
Mechanics Al Olson, Brian Calma and Adam Walters will be returning to the team for 2005, and they will continue to operate out of the White Bros. race shop in Southern California, while former AMA Supercross Champion Mike Bell will be the rider coach. Bill Tanner will be returning as the team manager for 2005, as well.
