MOTOCROSS CLASS
The start of the first MX class moto saw Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki’s Chad Reed take the holeshot. He was, however, passed quickly by Red Bull Honda’s Andrew Short. After that, the two riders battled for one lap until Reed finally made a pass stick and he quickly built up a lead over the Honda rider. Behind the top two, Short’s teammate Ivan Tedesco held down a strong third ahead of Reed’s teammate Michael Byrne. Further back in the pack, JGR/Yamaha’s Josh Grant was working hard and riding at a blistering pace to catch the front-runners. By lap nine, he had worked himself into fourth, and from there set his sights on Tedesco, who he passed only a few laps later to take over third. Soon after that, Grant worked his way up to pass Short, however, a miscue in a difficult whoop section caused him to go down hard. He remounted to finish sixth. As for the leaders, Reed went on to take the win followed by Short and Tedesco.
The start of this race looked a lot like the first as Ivan Tedesco, Andrew Short, and Chad Reed all jumped out to the early lead. This time, however, Tedesco was in the lead, and in the first few laps, he opened up a relatively comfortable lead over his teammate Short. Behind Short, Reed sat quietly waiting to make his move. After five laps, Reed went past Short, and from there set his sights on Tedesco out front. After catching up to the Red Bull Honda rider, Reed followed for numerous laps, before Tedesco made a mistake, going down in a deep rut after hitting a piece of wood that had become exposed. And as it turned out, that mystery piece of wood took out numerous riders before being removed by a course worker. From there, Reed began to pull away while Short started to catch Tedesco in second. Then, it happened again—Tedesco went down in the same turn that caused him to lose the lead to Reed. The fall allowed Short to close right up on Tedesco and make a pass, and after that, the top three running order never changed. Reed took the win and overall with a 1-1, Short took second in the moto and second overall with a 2-2 score, while Tedesco finished third in the moto and third overall with a 3-3 score.

First! I would like to thank my lack of a social life for allowing me to post at this time of night, and i would also like to thank my parents for raising such a anti-social child

Have to say that the series has taken a dump in the crapper. It's still fun to watch, but, NO STEWART, NO VILLAPOTO, NO ALLESI, and it looks like Reed's going to win a championship by default, just like his last supercross championship. No one with any serious professional skill is left. Yeah, they're all great riders, but the field is weak and decimated. Ohh well.

  • h0lesh0t Says:

I forgot to mention. The 250's are still awesome.

  • Ral820 Says:

u wouldnt have won if so many people hadnt busted their keyboard danny-o! jk, breakin keyboards is all part of the commenting game so u earned it. the tv coverage was lame/great! lame in that they showed 2 min of moto 1 highlights when they had 50 min of interviews/commercials. how about 10-15 min of moto 1 recap? but then again, nbc's first go at it and 1;30 of motocross was way better than cbs's lame attempts to get rid of sx and put more golf (anyone got screwwwd with the utah sx? san diego did), but they did real good for their 1st time

  • Tobias from Sweden Says:

Congrats to Reed! Also really fun to see Tedesco get some great results.

Tedesco is gonna be beast this year.

  • blah Says:

anybody else want Shorty to get a win as bad as i do? the dude is so consistent and seems like such a good guy, go get em' Andrew!

  • bazthespaz Says:

you are an absolute joke…."no one with any serious professional skill is left." - probably one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever heard….moron!

  • bazthespaz Says:

short isn't a winner…he's a third place guy at best! HE'S TOO NICE AND DOESNT HAVE THE X FACTOR!!!

  • h0lesh0t Says:

Yeah great, congrats to reed for winning against proven non-winners. It's totally lame.

  • h0lesh0t Says:

I can't wait for Honda to get rid of Tedesco, Short, and Millsaps. Maybe the could get some winners instead of a bunch of wieners.

  • h0lesh0t Says:

So, you're saying that the top 3 riders for outdoors in the world are missing from the series, and it doesn't seem to matter? Stewart, Villopoto, and Allesi, which is 123 on the podium missing isn't a decimated series? I'm a moron? It's obviously a sub-par field now.

  • kern154 Says:

Alot of you guys are ignorant! yeah granted stewart villopoto and alessi are out. but come on doesnt anyone appreciate the fact that someone else is gonna get a chance and itll be a lil more competitive this year with them out of the picture instead of stewart or villopoto decimating the field by 10 20 seconds… o and by the way im pullin for shorty! mr. consistency__

  • Weelsofsteel Says:

Well with that said h0lesh0t , Team red bull Honda should pick up James Stewart and leave L&M Yamaha so James can race Supercross and the Nationals.
That Yamaha does not perform for james like his Kawasaki did , Like Chad Reeds Suzuki performs better than his Yamaha did. ( Yamaha's really suck with riders who ride at that level for sure.) Other than that the bike design is fine for the amature speed.
Oh yeah! I have many friends that love thier yamaha bikes that race but are not the speed like the two best in the world.

  • JSMX Says:

Haha last week everyone was saying how short and tedesco were gonna be winning now…and now that chad passed short straight up you guys still find excuses to rag on him. He hasn't raced nationals in how long? and what was it, like a week he was abole to test before nationals due to his late decision? Chads an awesome rider and he has been picking up momentum since Glen Helen.

  • Specialized12 Says:

That's probably why he got second yesterday……

  • GoonBoy Says:

    h0lesh0t, you are pretty lame…lol

  • sarcasticnmx Says:

Yeah, since Stewart, RV and Alessi are out, they should just cancel the season don't ya think? Now that I think about it, since RC is not there anymore, they should cancel motocross for at least five years cause the best is not riding so anyone who wins now will have an asterisk by his name.

  • motocrosskid121 Says:

SUCKS THAT ALESSI IS OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was his year and he was haulin ass!!!!!!!!!! Hope to see him back

  • h0lesh0t Says:

I agree with you. How can a sport that's trying to make themselves an elite program allow their biggest star to sit out because he's team doesn't race the outdoors. That doesn't show a very positive image.

  • BM739 Says:

    I SEE A TWO STROKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 AAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • BM739 Says:

WHO IS THAT?????? #414??? MY HERO!!

  • h0lesh0t Says:

Yeah, it's a true statement. The top three riders aren't even competing this year. Reed is a good rider, but he just won his first overall EVER this weekend. I don't think it's a coincidence that STEWART, VILLAPOTO, or ALLESI weren't racing. The major talent is not around.

  • h0lesh0t Says:

thanks, but it's true. Imagine winning the NBA championship this year without , the Lakers, Magic, and Cavs around. I don't think it's a true playoff without your best teams playing being present, just like it's not a "real" series without your best 3 riders around. It's a gimme.

  • BM739 Says:

haha i agree. even the struggling privateer barely getting points every weekend has amazing talent. think about it, hes still faster than almost everyone in the country.

  • ryan Says:

why rag on Reed? what is he supposed to do? lose on purpose? just because the top 3 aren't there doesn't mean he shouldn't win. the best in the field should win, and right now it looks like Reed is the best of the field. just let the racing happen and be true fans of the sport, not bag on one of the fastest riders in the world.

  • bleake637 Says:

414- what a badass. Two strokes for life!

  • Rob Says:

Chad must have voodoo dolls in his closet. First Villapoto's knee went out, then Alessi's knee….Wierd how the people in front of Chad had such bad luck. If Stewart's knee goes out in Supercross this year we'll need to check for those dolls…..

  • jeff Says:

Shorty is like the nicest/coolest guy out there. what are you talking about.

  • eli9494 Says:

Whoever wins the title is a legit championship. staying healthy is one of the most important attributes of being a champion. Chad has always been tough, and that guys is probally the toughest guy out there when it comes to riding through injuries. If he win the title, he deserves it, I know everyone is gonna say rv,ma,js didn't race, well they couldn't or wouldn't finish the whole series. hats off to chad for being the toughest guy in motocross. I've seen that guy ride in PAIN. and still kick ass.

  • eli9494 Says:

to weels of steel- it's pretty obvious james doesn't want to race the nationals. If he did I'm sure he could. His team would go for it i'm sure, it would be a gauranteed championship almost(i think rv wouldd've had something for him if healthy) but he just doesn't want to, and the whole team thing is so he doesn't lose fans so the team is taking the flak for him. But that is why kawi didn't want him, because he wants a sx only contract. and he can't just decide to get on a honda and race the nationals, he's binded by contract
