Tour to Debut on USA Network, Its New Cable Home
NEW YORK — February 7, 2005 — NBC Universal’s NBC Sports and USA Network will televise 32 hours of the 2005 Dew Action Sports Tour , the first-ever, season-long professional multi-sport tour in action sports. NBC and USA will combine for 32 original hours of exclusive Dew Action Sports Tour coverage — the largest combined network and cable commitment in action sports. The announcement was made today by Ken Schanzer, President, NBC Sports.

NBC plans to broadcast 22 hours of Dew Action Sports Tour coverage, an increase from the previously announced 16 hours. The NBC Sports broadcasts will feature live coverage of the Dew Action Sports Tour ‘s inaugural season on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, beginning Saturday, June 11, with a live broadcast from the Panasonic Open in Louisville, Kentucky.
USA Network, available in more than 88 million U.S. homes and one of the top-rated networks on cable television, will present 10 hours of late night coverage from Midnight-1 a.m. ET/PT on Friday and Saturday nights. The Dew Action Sports Tour will make its television debut on USA on Friday, June 10 from the Panasonic Open.
The Dew Action Sports Tour will feature the top professional action sports athletes competing in skateboarding (vert and park), BMX (vert, park, dirt), and freestyle motocross. In addition to these three primary sports, each tour stop will feature a unique “specialty comp. At season’s end, based on a cumulative points system, the Tour will award the Dew Cup to champions in the six combined disciplines of skateboarding, BMX and freestyle motocross.
