After an up-and-down West Coast 125cc Supercross Series, Team Red Bull KTM’s David Pingree was faced with a long, boring summer. After all, the Arizona native had signed a supercross-only contract with the Austrian factory and had no ride for the upcoming 125cc National Championship Series, which starts this Sunday at Glen Helen Raceway Park in San Bernardino, CA.
Enter Ping’s good buddy Shawn Norfolk of Renthal. After several deep conversations, Norfolk convinced Pingree to contest at least the first 125cc National at Glen Helen. Reports have Norfolk securing sponsorship money from his bosses at Renthal, and Pingree will race his KTM 125SX practice bike. Ping’s “privateer” ride will be decked out in one-off Renthal graphics, made by N-Style. According to our sources, Ping’s #39 bike will have no KTM logos, as the factory is not providing any support. Good luck, David!
