What it is: Over the years Shift has been known to produce some stylish gear, and for 2009 nothing has changed. The ’09 Strike line from Shift offers some of the best comfort and durability you can find in riding apparel at a reasonable price. With strategically placed vents and stretch zones for added airflow and low profile TPR logos for reduced weight, Shift is doing their best to make riding gear as comfortable and stylish as possible.
Hits: The first thing we noticed when we slid on our Strike pant was the immense amount of comfort and flexibility offered in the knees. For those who wear knee braces, you understand the importance of having solid flexibility in the knees when you throw your leg over a bike. Therefore, thanks to the articulated knees, the pant conforms to your body while riding. As for the jersey, it comes with vented underarms for added breathability and micro cuffs that allow for a lightweight, unrestricted feel. Also, the lightly padded glove reduces your chances of tearing up the palm of your hands with blisters while reinforcing its longevity.
Misses: Our only issue we encountered was the size of the pant. The Strike gear does run a bit big; therefore, depending on the size of your body, you may need to consider a size smaller size than you’re used to.
The Verdict: Overall, the folks at Shift really did their math for ’09 to provide some of the best fitting gear on the market. Aside from that, they have also compiled an array of unique and bright colorways that will keep you looking fresh at the track.
