The East Coast Pit Bike Series started of strong with 128 riders showing up to make 272 class entries, all of which took place last Tuesday. Who ever says Pit Bike Racing is all done hasn’t been to this well attended Northeast event. The Masters of Mini (MoM) Series began it season for the second year in a row at the Marshfield County Fair in Massachusetts where it leads into the long running Marshfield Supercross, a full size bike race put on by South Shore Pormotions lead by Dana Johnson.

The Letendre Borthers built track was praised by the riders as being very friendly yet still challenging enough to bring out solid racing. And with qualifiers in 8 out of 10 classes you had to bring you’re “A game to get into the nighttime finals.

Canada’s Marco Genereux (71) was the stand out rider of the evening winning all three of his classes — Yoots (15-20 years of age), 10/12 Open (and open class for 10 and 12 wheels), and the 12 Rockstar class (12 Pro class). This Young Canadian looks to be the one to beat, but will he make it down south for each of the remaining 4 rounds to claim his championship crown?

The Middle Age class (21-29 years of age) was lead by Jesse Rossetti (15), followed by the Lavioe brothers of Shawn (112) and Chris (11) respectively. The Senior class (30+) was won by last year’s defending champion, Jay Ablaza (470) followed by Paul Letendre (50) and New York’s Chris Hutchison (33).

The Fat Boy class (200lbs+) was won by Hutch Motorsports owner and racer Dave Hutchins (909), followed by last year’s Fat Boy defending champion Matt Gronowicz (74) and the South Shore Promoter himself Dana Johnson (202). One of the series favorite classes, the Poor Boy class (49cc, up to 10 rear wheel) was topped by Andy Young (465), then Brian Rubello (18) and third went to AHP’s Mark Delorenzo (171) proving those guys can make anything go fast. In the Modified class (50-89cc, up to 10 rear wheel) it was the same battle as 2006 with Cody Madore (127) finishing on top this time, with runner up Jason Healy (93) followed by his brother Thomas (440) who was in fact, last year’s defending Modified Champion.

The Limited class (90-110cc, up to 12 rear wheel) was dominated by Cycles 128 rider Jimmy Decotis (375), followed by Adam Sebastian (190) and Steve Domuczicz (625). The Yoots class was won as mentioned by Marco Genereux (71), follwed by fellow Canadian and team mate Nathaniel Bosum (711) and Gregory Lehto (549). The 10/12 Open had Todd Chrusciel (76), last year’s defending Unlimited Champion, in second place to Marco with team mate Nathaniel Bosum (711) in third. The 10 Rockstar class (10 Pro class) had winner Tyson Clark (411) out of Carlisle PA, 2nd going to Chris Hutchison (33) with third going to Jason Healy (93). And finally the 12 Rockstar class was won by Marco Genereux (71), followed by Connecticut’s Billy Ainsworth (798), and Cananda’s Nathaniel Bosum (711). With so much talent on the line the racing was incredible!

The Marshfield Opening round is a Supercross style course with lap times hovering around 45 seconds — so the action is quick and exciting. Round 2 is held at CT River Motocross in Rocky Hill, CT — owned and operated by Tony and Lisa Lorusso. Tony is the winningest rider in New England history with over 40+ championships throughout his career and he just all out flies on a pit bike as well.

The Rocky Hill track is over 2 minutes in length and is considered a full blown outdoor style track where high speeds, sweeping corners, and loamy dirt are the order of the day. We hope you join us for Round Two Sunday September 30th. For registration info email david.olcott@transworld.net or just go to www.transworldmx.com/mom for more details.
