Friday night, March 16th Fox Racing held its Second Annual Sunshine Classic Pit Bike race at the Orlando Watersports Complex (OWC). After a considerable rain storm the night before, the track crew had their work cut out for them. The sun broke through the clouds around 2:00 pm and baked in the rain-soaked clay; and after extensive track maintenance practice got under way. Once the racers got out there and cut some lines, the Mark Barnett-designed track shaped up perfectly.
This race has been held the last two years on the Friday night before the Orlando Supercross; perfect timing because everyone is in town and there is nothing else to do. Fox athlete and event guru Todd Hicks saw an opportunity and has never looked back, and this event can only grow because the right people are running the show!
A reported 200 entries and 1500 spectators came out to partake in the festivities including a complementary dinner for everyone in between practice and racing sponsored by Fiber Wise Pasta. The Fox and OWC staff busted their buts to insure a fun time for all despite the uncooperative weather just 12 hours earlier.
If you are planning to go Orlando anytime in the future and you have a pit bike — you owe it to yourself to check out OWC — it is one of the coolest places around. CLICK HERE for more info and complete results from this years Sunshine Classic.
