Despite early week warnings of rain, San Diego offered up sunshine and near-60 degree temperatures for the final Supercross round in California for 2009. The golden bear was ready to dropkick the Supercross series out of Cali and back to the east, but not before one final hoorah. Coming into the night, Chad Reed had a slight points lead on James Stewart in the premier class, despite the fact a win had eluded him up to this point. Stewart, however, came into the San Diego round with five straight wins.
In the Lites class, Jake Weimer came in with the points lead with 113, but Ryan Dungey was close behind with 110. Weimer’s teammate, Ryan Morais, rounded out the top three with 102, so it was anyone’s game when the lights came on inside Qualcomm Stadium.
LITES QUALIFYING
When the gates dropped for the final California Supercross round of 2009, Geico Powersports Honda’s Trey Canard snatched up the holeshot, followed by Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer. Muscle Milk MDK/KTM’s Justin Brayton made chase in third place, with Cole Seely in a distant fourth. Dan Reardon rounded out the top five in the first heat of the night.
Heat 1 Top Five
1. Trey Canard
2. Jake Weimer
3. Justin Brayton
4. Cole Seely
5. Dan Reardon
Rockstar/Makita/Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey grabbed the second holeshot of the night, but Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Ryan Morais snuck around the Suzuki rider for a split second. Dungey quickly re-gifted the pass and put himself back into the first place position. Seaspan/TLD/Honda’s Chris Blose also enjoyed a good start and settled into third place. Jeff Alessi found himself in fourth place early on, but Muscle Milk MDK/KTM’s Ryan Sipes made his way around the privateer on the fourth lap. By the fifth lap, Dungey had all but checked out, while Morais and Blose settled for second and third respectively.
Heat 2 Top Five
1. Ryan Dungey
2. Ryan Morais
3. Chris Blose
4. Ryan Sipes
5. Jeff Alessi
Lites LCQ: Mike Sleeter got the holeshot, but Ben Evans made his way around him after a great battle. The two take the final qualifying spots in the Lites main.

Another runaway for Stewart. He had lap times in the 45 second range and the race was over by 9:45. I know they want closer racing but the main was only like 15 minutes long, before I knew it I was driving home. It was fun watching Stewart ride but its getting old, with his holeshot and runaway victory, I think chad has lost his mojo, and just doesn’t have an answer for Stewart, but who can blame him.
February 15th, 2009 at 5:10 am
thanks for getting the race report to us so quickly after it was over, you guys are on it with that stuff and i love it!
February 15th, 2009 at 5:20 am
45 second lap times, what a joke.
February 15th, 2009 at 5:30 am
hey what can you say, we all know theres just no answer to stewart. I do think that they should try and figure out something that might make the racing a little bit closer.
February 15th, 2009 at 8:37 am
ANYBODY HAVE ANY NEWS ON JOSH GRANT?HOPE HE IS NOT INJURED.
February 15th, 2009 at 9:00 am
SNORE….SNORE….SNORE…Slobber, druel, BORING! I am with the guys that made the comment I am glad Stewart is not racing the outdoors - maybe there will finally be something interesting to watch. I don’t want to take anything away from the guy - he IS the Tiger Woods of Moto, but it is KILLING the sport!
February 15th, 2009 at 9:20 am
You guys have got ot be kidding me!Its not Stewarts fault or the AMA that he is blowing every body away, blame his comp for not stepping up!!!!These guys all make damn good $$$ to go out and try to whip ass and they just dont have it in them. The racing isnt boring but you would think that REED and the rest of them guys would try to step it up.They havent!! But keep a eye on Adrew short!
February 15th, 2009 at 9:23 am
Did you guys feel the same way when it was Ricky and McGrath running away with the seasons?
February 15th, 2009 at 10:18 am
well on the one hand I’m happy for Stewart winning… on the other hand this could not be any more boring! well at least Grant got a win
February 15th, 2009 at 10:36 am
i didnt feel this wayy when ricky and mcgrath were in. cuz at least they had challengers!! but james is just on another level then all the other guys including chad.
February 15th, 2009 at 10:49 am
Another level? Is he even from this planet!Ever since the season started every interview Reed has done he always says if he can get the start with Stewart he would get the top step,it aint happening!!!The racing isnt boring it’s called racing the other guys need to try and step up and i hope Stewart races outdoors this year and if Stweart wins the SX series b4 Vegas,he should ride a YZ250 in the final!Andrew Short will get 2nd in the SX series this year!
February 15th, 2009 at 11:25 am
yeah, until he retires or dies nobody has a shot for the next few years at least.
February 15th, 2009 at 11:35 am
When RC was dominating-it was just as boring. You dudes be glad it is still an honest competition. When the DMG Nascrap dudes get hold of it, it will be a sellout for merchandise only. Enjoy the last few years of real MX and SX while it’s still here.
February 15th, 2009 at 11:40 am
i was jsut going to say the exact same thing, McGrath is a legend in their minds, i guess just disregard the fact that he has won like 75 supercross races. I dont see anybody hatig on him!
February 15th, 2009 at 12:04 pm
so whats up with josh grant? i saw hepler fall on tv and he said he thinks he hurt his wrist or arm
February 15th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
the races havent been real awesome but the talent stewart has is amazing. gotta respect it…
February 15th, 2009 at 12:23 pm
funny thing is is most wrote stewart off after anaheim 1 dont u think that just fuield his fire to shut everyone up?.not to mention reed saying the yamaha was bad and stewie wanted to prove it wasn’t. so basicly hes sticking it to everyone who said he couldn’t get it done.
February 15th, 2009 at 12:25 pm
Whats wrong with you guys I know your not hating on Stewart but
come on i can watch him 24/7 on a supercross track and will never get old.
February 15th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
if u were watching stewart ride alone on a practice track it wouldn’t get boring. a true fan with a passion for the sport would apreaciate the level of skill and talent the guy has on a motorcycle.and wether anyone likes it or not hes the fastest right now. u want a answer to how to slow him down? ban him from racing supercross, wich would be retarded and no i wouldn’t support it but theres your asnwer.
February 15th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
hepler is a bum and will lose his ride. it pains me to say this being that he lives about a half hour from me. stewart is boring to watch. i dont care how fast he is. you cant fully appreciate a riders speed if there is noone around him. i think he is an incredible pansy for not racing outdoors. in fact any pro that doesnt compete outdoors doesnt deserve the ride they have. this is why stewart will never be as good as rc. rc never took a season off.
February 15th, 2009 at 12:52 pm
bottom line is stewart is here and hes winning u can’t stop him from doing that, and im sure he could careless if people dont like seeing him win. im sure it makes him work even that much harder to win so keep fueling the dudes fire.mcgrath knows what this was like all to well, everyone hates a winner that wont lose.
February 15th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
When I was younger I thought that it was so boring every race and would root against Carmichael. But now that hes gone, and you see old videos of how SIC and i mean SIC he was, you appreciate it. Im 21 now, and even though I root for chad reed, when bubba runs away I still want to watch every second of how insanely precise and SIC he is. Dont be like me in the past, enjoy his perfection, and learn from it.
February 15th, 2009 at 1:12 pm
i agree with brendan watch the best there is, and apreaciate it.a true fan passionet about the sport, could see and apreaciate just how good james is. who here would love to be the most elite athlete in your sport? to be the best, of the best the fastest there is? or would you just want to make things intresting.. and go slow so others wouldn’t see all your hard work you put in to get where you are? hmmm tough one right there huh?
February 15th, 2009 at 1:25 pm
Does any 1 rememeber when M.jordan and the bulls use to get there butts whipped by the Detroit Pistons,it took a few yrs b4 the bulls could finally beat the Pistons and then what happened they went on to kick every bodys butt,it was the same way when Rc and Stewart were racing each other. Now Stewart is the man and if i do recall Stewart got RC’s # few times Reed cant say that!I like close racing to but if Stewart is that fast then i got nothing but mad love for the guy!I just hope Reed dosent start that riding dirty BS’,i recall him doing it to Rc a few times in the past when he couldnt beat him!Oh and by the way the Yamaha is not fuel injected right,LOL
February 15th, 2009 at 1:28 pm
Just to give some of you guys some info, Stewart “WANTS” to race the nationals! Its just that his team that employs him wont let him! If you have beef with that, you have to take up with Larry Brooks!
February 15th, 2009 at 1:42 pm
Bubba’s the man, don’t dis the guy coz he’s fast, reed just needs to find more speed and get his RMZ a holeshot for once, then we will see a great battle. If you guys out there that think it’s boring to watch… change sports!
February 15th, 2009 at 1:44 pm
heplers a bum? your an idiot dude. hes out there training 24/7 and is keeping up with the top 5 no problem. somehow he always ends up getting tooking out or hit with bad luck. i’d like to see u out there buddy. stewart is an amazing rider, u cant appreciate his speed? how do u appreciate anyone elses speed when hes putting them all to shame
February 15th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Even if Reed gets a hole shot he Still has nothing for Stewart,he gated with Stewart last night and still couldnt do anything wit him,Im impressed with Shorty,he was catching Reed!Whats up with K-Dub?
February 15th, 2009 at 2:58 pm
Even if Reed gets a hole shot he Still has nothing for Stewart,he gated with Stewart last night and still couldnt do anything wit him,Im impressed with Shorty,he was catching Reed!Whats up with K-Dub?I really think the Yamaha is dialed NOW.lol
February 15th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
a great battle? he started right behind stewart and got blown off. reed would just be a moving road block if he got the holeshot. (ok maybe not that bad). lets face it, stewart is just plain better then reed. he always has been, and always will be. im more of a reed fan then a stewart fan, but facts are facts
February 15th, 2009 at 5:39 pm
Reed is mentally FRIED, Stewart is off the charts talented, and it will take RV2 a while to adapt and fully get acclamated. All I am saying is the lack of competition will not further the sport, get TV ratings, etc - and THOSE are the important things we need as supporters of Supercross. It takes a MILLION more muscles, skill, and dexterity to race Supercross than it does to race Nascar, but they clearly know how to obtain an audience and make their sport #1 (and I HATE Nascar!) Oh yah, if you RETARDS on here want to make a legitimate statement and don’t want to look like complete morons, LEARN TO SPELL!
February 15th, 2009 at 6:24 pm
Wow i thought all this was just for fun but it gets kinda harsh on here!Lol.How do you make the racing closer?I mean Reed is wearing the #1 plate and he is a riding a FACTORY BIKE,i dont think it has anything to do with the ama trying to make the racing closer, the other guys on the gate need to step the fk’up its not like there are a bunch of rookies in the SX class, there are guys on the gate that have been in the class for atleast 2/4yrs!You dont go and change the sport cuz 1guy is beating all the guys that try and make the main!lets be real some the guys that make the main just want to make the damn main.RC did the same thing b4 here was whipping MC.I really think that every once in a while we get to see some one special come by and that is true in any sport!RC was the man now it’s Stewart turn.
February 15th, 2009 at 6:28 pm
They could all ride 80cc 2-strokes.
February 15th, 2009 at 6:30 pm
EXACTLY!
February 15th, 2009 at 6:47 pm
“getting tooking out” me idiot? enough said.
February 15th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
are you retarded? you mean the team doesnt want to make money by having the fastest rider in the world race outdoors in front of millions of people. they wont let him ride? i think if he really wanted to then he wouldnt have signed with them.wow are you stupid.
February 15th, 2009 at 7:37 pm
I think if the AMA drug tester everyone and made e.v.o inhancers and steroids illegal you would see stewart disqualified.
February 15th, 2009 at 8:17 pm
Speaking of spelling, acclimated is spelled with an i, not an a. It would probably be best not to criticize others.
February 15th, 2009 at 9:02 pm
wow after readin all of these people’s comment’s its true none of you people understand what it takes to get to the top, I’m not a huge stewart fan, but give him a break, I mean he is the fastest guy in the world! He had to work his way up just like McGrath, and Carmicheal. And untill someone dethrones him, he will be the man!
February 15th, 2009 at 9:04 pm
Its not that stewart is making it boring its that everyone else out there is not sticking a wheel on the inside of stewart and making him think about whats behind him also think about this reed has won 2 titles 04 no carmichael do to injury and 08 no stewart also do to injury we all have seen reed go as fast or faster then stewart but not for 20 laps and he doesnt take the chances and push like stewart does
February 15th, 2009 at 9:11 pm
Yeah guys, it’s just a atestament to Lance Armstrong’s book “It’s Not About The Bike” hah i mean Jame’s WAS riding a so called piece of crap and NOW he’s beat the best of the best on it and him and the team just keep making the bike better and growing stronger… Nobody was even crowned champion last year as far as i’m concerned, dude, i mean the moment Reedy had to get up defend the championship he crumbled. Straight up… His lady friend must be a distraction, because if not Chads alllll out of excuses! That guy should just get off the box, shut up, and let Villopoto have a go
February 15th, 2009 at 9:33 pm
i like unicorn races
February 15th, 2009 at 9:38 pm
Bubba is the man! I’m sorry but all other riders need to step it up not him slow down just to make a interesting race. He doesn’t knpw slow! It’s all or nothing. A true fan or racer should be able to appreciate that. I’m a black rider living in the UK and i love the AMA, it beats FIM hands down. At the Des Nations 2008 i was the only person cheering on bubba the crowd hated him. U guys should be behind him he blew all the so called best riders away and if he hadn’t crashed in the last moto would’ve 1 that aswell. It’s funny cause the UK were cheering on Pourcel when he had a battle with bubba not their own riders. But i’m sure if you all could ride like Bubba you wouldn’t care what other people think. The bottom line is he’s gifted!
February 15th, 2009 at 10:17 pm
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!! You really don’t know what you’re talking about do you? Steroids would give a rider arm pump faster than pounding 10 sodas in a row. Give me a break! Learn about motocross before you spout your mouth off.
Wow, that is really some funny stuff. If these guys were using steroids they would be HUGE. Have you seen how small Stewart is? That guy rides every day, has ridden every day since he was five years old. I’m not a Stewart fan, but the guy has been riding AND WINNING since he was five years old. I remember him at Las Vegas world minis in 93. It was apparent he was going to be a champion later in his career. I did say that about a lot of people (charley bogard, jonny marley, justin buckalew, jason partridge), but he really had something special.
Go away. We don’t need you here.
February 15th, 2009 at 10:25 pm
I agree (and NOT a Stewart fan), but he is the fastest, it’s the way it is, until someone dethrones him. It is cyclical. I agree some other riders should find some more speed w/ their salaries. I agree the GOAT is called that for a reason and even Stewart never had anything for him outdoors (which is real MX). I agree the worse your punctuation/spelling is the less value your comment holds..and I think the comment “I like unicorn races” IS very funny!
February 15th, 2009 at 10:30 pm
for real outdoors will be good
February 15th, 2009 at 10:32 pm
A true motocross fan will always appreciate a rider like stewart. He is something real special to watch. I’ve seen all the dominent pros from the early 70s to now and I will never get bored of dominence.
Roger DeCoster , Kent Howerton , Marty Smith , Bob Hannah , Marty Tripes , Mark Barnett , Rick Johnson , Jeff Ward , Broc Glover , Damon Bradshaw , Jeff Stanton , Jeremy McGrath , Jeff Emig , Chad Reed , Ricky Carmicheal , and James Stewart.
So if you feel bored …..get a bike and practice your heart out and dominate! I will be watching.
February 15th, 2009 at 10:33 pm
hepler is an idiot that rides over his head and i agree with the other anonymous guy stewarts a b*tch for not riding outdoors cuz he knows he cant control himself he hurts himself every year in outdoors since he has been on 450s
February 15th, 2009 at 10:36 pm
hahahaha he probly is on some kind of sh!t being able to ride like he does
February 15th, 2009 at 11:59 pm
Open your eyes - Reed isn’t leaving anything out & doesn’t sit down after being passed by JS. He has also come from way back to get close to JS.
OK That doesn’t affect the results but 2nd place to one of the greatest could possibly still be impressive (& tough) - the reality is nobody EXCEPT Reed is having a crack at it. PS Bubba might take himself out yet - ” she” has not sung yet !
February 16th, 2009 at 12:14 am
How much heart do you think it takes to catch AND beat this guy ? More than most have EXCEPT Reed.
At least REED IS looking for the chance, has a go when it happens.
It’s easy to line up at a shrine for the chosen one & criticise the rest of the field.
February 16th, 2009 at 1:05 am
you know who could give stewart a run for his money?
danica patrick.
that show down would be monumental.
February 16th, 2009 at 1:22 am
both stewart and reed are fast as hell just everytime reed gets faster stewart knows how to step it up a notch and go faster when it counts but it just seems like reed has lost his drive this year last night shorty was catching reed so he really needs to step it up if he wants to win a title for suzuki
February 16th, 2009 at 1:35 am
So let me get this straight. You want me to ride a little bit slower so the people who don’t train as hard and don’t push as hard as I do get a chance to beat me? I ride to win and that’s what I aim for, if any of you were where I am you’d do the same thing. But none of you haters are.
Thanks for the support to my real fans,
James “Bubbalicious” Stewart #7
February 16th, 2009 at 7:13 am
So apparently no one has stepped it up this year??? what about Chad catching James in the first few races, and destroying the rest of the field on one of his comebacks from near the back? He is without a doubt one of the premier riders on the planet. James is just that little bit better and more consistent with his deadlyness, and i am an Aussie and root for Reedy.
And then there is the rest of the field, like Shorty, who has also stepped it up to be able to start catching Reed, and honestly if Stewart wasn’t there then it would be Reed who would be “the man” because he is the next best by far. He hasnt been able to consistently beat RC or JS just because they have practice just as hard as him and can also do the same things on two wheels. And anyone who is stupid enough to question that just needs to take a look at who has been behind JS and RC the whole time. every year Reed has been the man who has come in the next spot behind these two.. So all you ignorant dicks, pussies, sooks, bad losers, complainers, wanna-be’s, and wankers… STEP UP OR GROW UP.. if you have so much to say about how everyone is slacking off against Stewart then you go out and try and beat him..
(p.s) i think they are both great and would take lessons off them anytime.. or just a beer.. call me chad. i saw you in brisbane
February 16th, 2009 at 8:11 am
I can not believe you guys are saying supercross is boring to watch. You need to find a new sport if you say that. Keep motocross for cool people not losers.
February 16th, 2009 at 10:16 am
STEWART is doing what he train hard for to win…he is know different when any other rider you race to win…..
February 16th, 2009 at 11:05 am
I love watching SX regardless of outcome. Just like Jordan, just liker Tiger Woods, Stewart just has it. He owns the sport. All these top guys train just as hard but Stewart is a level or two above with natural talent/hard work/dedication. Until another rider with that type of gift and dedication comes along, no one else has a chance. No one is even getting close to closing the gap. Ricky and James both rode far above everyone else, may be quite some time until another rider comes up with that formula. #2 may be the only glimmer of hope for the future, but well see soon enough.
February 16th, 2009 at 2:53 pm
Initial reports said that Hepler may have broken his wrist, but we talked to him today and he said that nothing is broken. He added that he is going to train today and probably won’t ride till later this week, but he is planning on racing Atlanta.
February 16th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Josh Grant went down real hard. It happened right in front of us. He never got up and was carried off the track. no one has posted his condtion yet. If anyone knows please reply ….
February 16th, 2009 at 3:54 pm
San Diego Supercross class was a great race … Davy Milsapes surprised us all with the second fastest qualifying time but went down while leading his qualifier heat. I think he rode the main with an injured leg. Near the end of the race Shorty and RV were catching Reed! Both RV and Short have stepped up there game in my book. RV almost passed Shorty in the last turn before the finish. RV is starting to show his aggressive riding like when he was on the 250. This was this time for Reed to step it up and race with Stewart. He was in second behind James but Reed had nothing and was making lots of mistakes not shown on the TV broadcast. James Stewart is now tied in the points lead with Reed. Stewart has found the right setup on the Yamaha and is clearly the fastest SX rider on the planet with 6 wins in a row.
The 250 class was great! Canard showed us he can be faster than Weimer in the qualifier heat. Dungy smoked everyone to take the points lead – but he almost went down in the sweeper not shown on the TV broadcast … and Morris dusted Weimer. Morris has certainly stepped up his game.
This is great racing!
February 16th, 2009 at 4:32 pm
race outdoors sissy! your soft. you know your gonna yardsale yourself as usual
February 16th, 2009 at 5:09 pm
Wow damn did i just read a post from JS-7 soon to #1??In any sport you have Greatness and right now we are seeing it in Stewart you have to give the guy mad props he is that good! And for those of you who say if REED could get a start he got it the other night and same results, hell it didnt matter shorty was about to get that 2nd step from him.I like Reed but he isnt the man Stewart is and has any one forgotten that Stewart use to train with RC’when he was younger they were both on Kawi’s!07 RCA dome in indy i saw JS-7 come from almost last place and WALK REED DOWN and win that race!!By the way REED got the hole shot in that race.JS-7 if you are reading this and if you have this championship done by vegas please ride a YZ250 in the final race!Id really would like to read the post from that race!JS-7 see you in indy.
February 16th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
Oh and one more thing to JS-7,dont slow down hell, twist the the throttle off the bar if you have to!And watch’em catchin REED riding dirty!LMOFF!!!
February 16th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
ok if it wasnt james chad would win everything…boring. its in the lites.
February 17th, 2009 at 12:45 am
yo, yo, do y’all remember james stewart sweeping the natonals? this year he will win the supercross championship, no doubt. James Stewart could win on a yz250 2-srtoke against chad reed. obviously its not the type of dirtbike that wins races, its the determanation to win.
February 17th, 2009 at 1:17 am
bubba is the man! stay on that throttle and f all these haters! i just laugh when I scroll through these post. man! there is so many haters out there! even reed is a hell of a rider, we can only wish we were as fast as these guys. I just cant believe how many scrubs who only wish they were fast have so much sh*t to talk. stewart or reed or vp or who ever wins or is winning, you think they give a rats a$$ what you guys think! they are ridding at another level of riding that you will never be or a rider you will never become, so just quit hating on them and watch and learn and keep wishing you only had a 1/4 of their skills. no wi see why rap music always talks about haters! when your on top of your game, it fills people with hate and envy! i love it. stewart! keep winnning and keep watching that money pile up baby!
February 17th, 2009 at 3:37 am
next time u win win it by over 50 seconds and lap second place just to piss everyone off more. its a joke how people are viewing stewart right now.let the guy race his damn dirt bike and just shut up.
February 17th, 2009 at 9:22 am
Go Alessi!!!

February 17th, 2009 at 12:39 pm
almost ALL of SX west coast series ARE outdoors bitter betty
February 17th, 2009 at 2:29 pm
This the only thing I could find on Josh Grant
For the first time this season Josh Grant was not able to finish
in the top five. The rookie slipped off in the first corner and
was recovering positions through the pack when he ‘cased’ a jump
and hit his throat on the bars, forcing his retirement.
February 17th, 2009 at 3:11 pm
WHY DO YOU WANT HIM TO RACE OUTDOORS SO HE CAN CLEAN UP THERE TOO?
ALL THE OTHER RIDERS SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO BE CALLED PRO!EITHER WRECK OR WIN PANSYS!
February 17th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
don’t hate, relate.
February 17th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
Any body know what Happend to Broc Helper?
February 17th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
The people saying “do not blame Stewart” are correct. He should not be held accountable for his talent and the failure of other riders to ride and train at his level. Carmichael and Stewart split outdoor and supercross races the last two years RC raced. RC was “old” by racing standards. Clearly, Stewart can be beat. Regardless of his dominance, Stewart is a class act. You will not see Stewart engaging in the crap Jason Lawrence is doing. Lawrence is a far greater distraction and burden to the sport than Stewart kicking ass. Like Michael Jordan, Stewart sells tickets and merchandise – both critical for the survival of the sport. The only people making money off guys like Lawrence are criminal defense attorneys.
February 17th, 2009 at 11:41 pm
How can anyone question greatness. James Stewart is the fastest dude to ever throw a leg over a bike. He retired Carmichael, who knew his days of pressuring Stewart were gone. Good for Reed to hang in there, he is the same age as Carmichael but still going for it. Everybodys’ Precious RC bitched out because he didn’t want to play second fiddle to Stewart. Give Reed Props for still attempting to compete. Reed and Stewart are so much better than all the other guys. Villapoto, what an overated kid, Stewart and Reed were winning by this time in their rookie seasons. The kids today are just getting to soft.
February 18th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
We do need to remember RC suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome. In spite of this fact, he fairly easily handled Stewart outside. RC is unquestionably the greatest outdoor Motocross machine ever. No question or debate. He ran Stewart down easily at many outdoor races. However, Stewart is a far better Supercross racer and he clearly got the best of RC in Supercross. We need to remember, regardless of color choices, the top riders are the premier riders in our sport. They sell tickets, bring fans to races, bring big-time sponsors like Monster to the sport, give our sport mainstream coverage on CBS, and provide an incentive for parents to buy their kids bikes and get young riders involved in riding. It would appear RC left the sport because he did not need the money, his health problems were getting worse, he had small children at home, and he feared further injury (an issue that has plagued Stewart). I commend RC for still being a visible person in the sport and attending many races. “Kj” I agree with your props to Reed. He is working harder than anyone to beat Stewart.

Are you kidding me? Stewart is the fastest man on the planet and your saying he doesn’t deserve a ride just for not racing outdoors? and actually Stewart already was faster than R.C, R.C. retired because he knew Stewart was faster than him and didn’t want Stewart to beat him.
