Trey Canard looked to have the early lead but was quickly overtaken by Ryan Dungey, Jake Moss, and Ryan Morais. At the end of the first lap the top five running order was Dungey, Moss, Morais, Canard, and Michael Hall. Second in series points, Jake Weimer, did not have a good start and was around tenth place in the opening laps. By lap three, Morais had worked his way into second and the top two began to gap the rest of the field as Weimer did everything he could to get into a decent position. By lap five, the top five remained the same while the top ten rounded off with Weimer in sixth followed by Jimmy Alberston, Ryan Sipes, Jeff Alessi, and Kyle Cunningham. The top three riders were all running sub-55 second lap times as Canard and Morais were battling for second place. Their duel allowed Dungey to establish a bit of a lead and by lap seven, the Suzuki rider had about a four second lead on Morais.
Further back, Weimer was working his way up toward the front as he battle with Jake Moss who was having his best race of the season, continuing with the momentum from his heat race win. Unfortunately for Weimer, the gap up to first place was over 17 seconds.
As the laps wound down, a downed rider on one of the triple jumps forced all of the riders to single over the obstacles, slowing the lap times down, and adding to a bit of the drama as the lead riders made their way through lapped traffic. Despite the additional challenge, Ryan Dungey was able to maintain his lead all the way to the finish, taking a well-deserved win, and inched his way a bit close to his first professional title.

aw man, Reed! I hate to see that happen! I was pulling for him all season! props to TWMX for getting this up as quick as they did. bummer about Reed, but congrats to Villopoto; lookin for a podium and ends up with the win.

WOW!~ Supercross is AWESOME and CRAZY! Congrats RV2! Reed CHOKES the title away and once again, it sounds like the track SUCKED! Way to go Dungey too - you may be the new Golden Boy of the sport, but you’re a great kid and a heck of a rider!

Props to RV2, best comeback to racing ever! Looks like James learned how to ride slow and finish second from all the riding with Reed in FL lol great race on a sh*tty track, Milsaps bringing home the bacon too?! Awesome race! And as always, Transworld is the only stop for post race coverage

So stoked to see RV back and winning at home. Way to go James for playing cool after taking second. I’m not a reed fan but man that sucks, he is my favorite second place guy. Props to Ashley too bad we only see her on the west coast races.

Reed is just not fast enough to win the championship, he had all he needed with stewart not finishing at A1,and even that still that wasn’t enough. STEWART =’s CHAMP since he is that much better than Reed and everyone else.

i am way psyced to see rv win the race. i am however disappointed in reeds finish. and shame on millsaps and alessi to name a couple of riders that just move over for stewart. why are they so afraid of him? noone will stick a block pass on him wtf? he may be faster but that doesnt mean you just move over. i mean if i made that much money to race my dirtbike, i would race. not move over. pick it up fellas!

reed will always be second best… people can call him consistent all they want but he couldnt do it while carmichael was around, and he cant handle it now.

unfortunate for chad reed, but statistiaclly his chances for a mess up were growing greater every race. too bad it had to happen now! Id be much happier to be in James shoes and mess up before it came down to the end like he did. This all being said from a statistics point of view.

wow, that was the first pro ama supercross race I’ve ever seen, and holy shit, it was pretty much the coolest thing ever!, it’s crazy how fast those guys are! watching them on tv is nothing like seeing it in real life!

to me there is no doubt that stewart is faster but you also got to give credit to reed, he is normally a quarter of a second off but he is also faster than stewart sometimes, ( phoenix, anaheim 2, 3 and was running pretty solid at the opoener until someone else messed it up for him TOO) and he just didnt get the break to win when he has been faster. all in all, stewart deserves the title. but he really isnt that superior to reed.

hey, tim ferry won the 97′ 125 supercross championship without winning a single race. he deserved the win because he was consistent, constant podiums. sure James Stewart is fast, but he is not consistently fast. speed is nothing if you cant use that speed and turn it into a championship.

This is going way back, but don’t forget about the 1992 Camel Supercross battle between Damon Bradshaw and Jeff Stanton. Damon had nine wins (a record at the time) going into the final round in LA, while Stanton only had two wins. All the “Beast from the East” had to do was score a fourth place a better in the main to take the championship. But alas, Stanton kept his head in the game to take the main event win and the championship, while Bradshaw rode like a rookie to finish fifth and lose the title that was his for the taking.
What does this mean? It ain’t over ’til its over!

Reed all the way.stewart is fast and obivously rides better then reed but theres absolutly NO compition between the two unless steward falls or make a huge mistake(changes of that are high).and someone who just goes other there every weekend and rides with no compition means nothing to me.at least reed trys his ass off every weekend and puts alot of heart and makes no mistakes

I think Reed is a 2nd place guy..Ya he hauls ass but he just is not a real winner? He has never just won a championship in the 450 class hands down always by default. He also is a stuck up cry baby …I think he hates the ugly Americans…He is flat out a little spoiled rich brat! He never shows any love for the USA or respect! HE is just a (blow it) thank god he was not on our team @ the Motocross De Nations! As far as Stewie he hauls ass but he is a flake also always some kind of a problem WTF dude if you worked at a typical job you would be fired …Maybe he is a nice guy? Maybe he will grow up and get his shit togeather? He is just a kid but it’s time to clean your program up for a complete racing year/season. And what is the deal with the Supercross only contracts screw that shit!! Is it because the top guys are to expensive for the factory to afford for a full year of racing or is it because they (the top guys) took a major pay cu and dont want to race for less money? Or is it because the top guys are just premadonas and dont want to ride dirty bikes and race the real racing OUTDOORS!! Thats the real shit Supercross sucks compared to out doors..I love the sport of Motocross but man the top guys are becoming top girly men!!

im so sick of hearing stuart should be the champion because he is fast. yeah is is fast but hes not the best. reed is way more consistant than stuart and thats why reed is in the runin for the championship. stuart cant control himself under pressure and all reed has to do is figh with stuart and stuart will make mistakes and reed will take the win. unlike reed he can controll himself.
