Earlier this summer, the AMA National Series event scheduled for Kenworthy’s MX in Troy, Ohio, was postponed due to torrential rain, and rescheduled for this coming weekend. Unfortunately, once again rain has flooded the area, this time causing the race to be cancelled. Over at Kenworthy’s web site ( www.kenworthysmxpark.com), you’ll find this message.
“Due to recent heavy rain, the track has AGAIN flooded and regrettably has forced us to cancel Round 12 of the AMA Chevy Pro National Motocross Championship that was scheduled to take place this weekend, September 5-7.
We look forward to hosting the U.S. Motocross Championship again next year and look forward to the 2004 season.”
The only remaining question is whether the series is actually over. The AMA and NPG (National Promoters Group) are meeting to determine the fate of the final race as this is being written.
We’ll update this story as we learn more.
