Ricky Carmichael is starting to show his consistency of last year. RC walked away with the overall win at Red Bud, winning both motos. Ryan Hughes pulled through on the CRF450 and managed a second overall. Bad luck struck the rest of the 250’s though. Mike LaRocco got bad starts, Tortelli “ran out of gas” in the first moto while leading on the last lap, and crashed in the first turn in the second moto. Windham’s chain blew up in the second moto while running in second place. Stephane Roncada did have some good fortune, though. Roncada put a third and fourth place finish together for third overall, his best 250 finish ever.

Larry Ward surprised a few people this weekend with the overall win at Red Bud. He didn’t win either moto, but putting in a consistent 2-2 ride secured him the overall. Greg Schnell led the first lap of the first moto, but was soon passed by Travis Pastrana and Larry Ward. Mike Brown flatted in the first moto, while in sixth place.
Ward holeshot the second moto, and led until he was passed by Grant Langston on the last lap. Langston’s left shoulder is rumored to be 90-percent, and he’s still not sure whether he’s going to have surgery to repair torn ligaments yet. Travis Pastrana had a bad start and had to work his way from the back of the pack, but could only manage fourth in the second moto.
