Two Separate Competitions to be Held Friday and Saturday, November 7 & 8
AURORA, Ill. (November 5, 2003) – Heading into the Vans Championships of Freestyle Motocross presented by Mountain Dew and Xbox brought to you locally by Burcham Cycles, the final round of the Vans Triple Crown at Richmond Coliseum, November 7-8, Kenny Bartram and Nate Adams are tied at 194 total points each.
There are two nights of competition; each night the winner earns 50 Vans Triple Crown points. Second place is awarded 47 points and third place 45 points. In the event of a tie between Bartram and Adams, the winner of Saturday night¿s competition will be awarded the overall Vans Triple Crown Championship, $10,000 Vans purse payout and a new 2003 Ford FX4.
The first competition will be held on Friday, November 7, at 8:00pm. The first qualifier sends five riders to the main event. The final qualifier, the last chance qualifier (LCQ), sends three more riders to the main, totaling eight riders for the feature.
In the finals, the eighth qualifier will ride first followed by the seventh place qualifier leading up to the number one qualifier. The highest score in the main will be awarded the ¿Vans Hot Seat.¿ After the final rider leaves the course, the last rider in the Vans Hot Seat with the highest score will be announced the winner.
Saturday¿s competition is billed as a separate event with the same competition format.
The overall Vans Triple Crown Champion will be named after all the series points are added up. Points from the first two rounds, The Xbox Pro of Freestyle Motocross and The Mountain Dew National Championship of Freestyle Motocross, will be added with the final scores of the Vans Championship of Freestyle Motocross to name a champion.
There are two nights of action, Friday and Saturday, November 7 and 8. Gates open at 7:00 p.m. both nights and the event begins at 8 p.m. Kids tickets are $5, and adult tickets are $18. Premium Gold level seats are available for $25.
