Saylor and Tobin Keep the MDK/Lucas Oil/Yamaha WWR Train Rolling

Newbury Park, CA. Jacob Saylor and Kyle Tobin powered their MDK/Lucas Oil/Yamahas into both main events in round 10 of the Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series, held at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Both riders capitalized on excellent starts and solid riding in their respective heat races to easily transfer directly to the main on the demanding sand track.

Kyle Tobin, the lone Wonder Warthog Racing/Dana K intern who made his first east coast Lites main event last weekend with a 13th place in St. Louis, looked like a seasoned pro as he battled for position during the entire 15 lap main event. The 18 year-old from nearby Climax, Georgia finished a solid 16th place and holds 20th in the overall point standings after 3 of 7 rounds in the series.

Jacob Saylor, chasing after a special bonus pool of loot put together by his personal benefactors, had a rock solid night, finishing 17th in a star-studded Supercross class. Jacob’s confidence is now where it needs to be and he’s ready to make a run at the top ten in Orlando.

Said Scott Kandel, Wonder Warthog Racing’s (WWR) Chief Altruistic Officer, “Our riders are doing great this year. We’ve had nine guys make a total of 21 main events and we couldn’t be more pleased.

Antonio Balbi again just missed making the main after running 6th place in his heat. While battling with Grant Langston, he made an unfortunate mistake and hit the Daytona turf. That’s now 4 weeks in a row that defeat has been snatched from the jaws of victory for Antonio. We all hope that Lady Luck will shine for him next weekend at Orlando.

Saylor earned the team’s weekly “Barnett Clutch Performance award by digging deep and racing his MDK Speed/DrD/Enzo-built Yamaha YZ450F into the main.

Once again, the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute (MMI) Interns were a huge asset, helping wrench for the riders and doing an excellent job of setting up and tearing down the massive pit complex.

Five riders qualified for the night program, including 3 from the DeCal Works Hog Haven. Zach Ames, Dave Ginolfi, and Balbi joined Saylor and Tobin in the night show.
