ATLANTA, (Feb. 23, 2004) — Steve Boniface continued to shine in a ‘non points scoring role’ on the 125 Eastern Region series for Team MotoworldRacing.com/Suzuki, this past weekend racing to a season-best fourth place finish overall in the main event at Minneapolis.
“It’s good to do well on either coast, said Boniface. “I’m comfortable with my bike now, have been getting some good starts and am able to carry good speed in the main.
Boniface admitted to having some trouble early on in the 125 Western Region rounds of the THQ/AMA Supercross Series. But he’s counting on his newfound speed and success during the Eastern rounds to allow him to carry some momentum into the final 125 West rounds and, eventually, the all-important Vegas 125 Shootout.
“It’s always better to race than to go out and ride a test track by yourself, said Boniface. “It builds your confidence and will help when I go back to the West (Dallas, April 17). I’ll have raced 13 times between the first Anaheim and when the West rounds start back up. And that will for sure help me at Vegas.
Boniface, a Frenchman who resides in Murietta, Calif., is in 14th place overall with 37 points – just five points behind 10th place (42 points) with two races to go in the 125 Western Region.
Boniface and the MotoworldRacing.com/Suzuki team return to action this weekend at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The 125 Western Region Series resumes on on April 17th in Dallas.
