Fresh off a podium finish in the 125 class at the U.S. Open, Floridian Troy Adams is the latest rider to join OMS’ stable of marquis motocross racers
ANAHEIM, Calif., (Oct. 28, 2003) — Officials at OMS Sports announced today that Troy Adams, a 20-year-old motocross star-in-the-making, has joined forces with OMS Sports — effective immediately.
Adams, who most recently raced to a third-place finish at the prestigious U.S. Open in Las Vegas, just completed his first year on the supercross and Outdoor National series tours. Adams, who trains in Florida with neighbor and fellow OMS client Tim Ferry, had a typical first year as a pro, scoring some top 12-15th place finishes in supercross and battling to similar, if not better finishes at the Nationals before getting banged up a bit. Prior to that Adams was a perennial podium finisher (1998-01) at the U.S. Amateur Motocross Championships at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch.
Healthy and fast for the Open, Adams’ performance secured some serious interest and raised his stock for the upcoming SX and MX seasons. Still undecided as to who he’s going to ride with for ’04, it was at Ferry’s urging that Adams hooked up with OMS Sports to help guide his fledgling pro motocross career.
“I’m still in negotiations with a couple teams. Looking forward to wrapping that up and focusing on the upcoming season,” said Adams. “I’d heard about OMS when I was coming up, and then what Timmy (Ferry) said was really what I based my decision on (to join OMS). I hadn’t been to one race this year where there wasn’t somebody from OMS there to help me out.”
Said Fred Bramblett, President of OMS Sports: “There are not many precious stones that are unturned in this industry and we see Troy Adams as being just one of those. He’s got a great deal of potential, which was evident when he virtually came out of nowhere to finish on the podium at the U.S. Open. OMS Sports looks forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Troy.”
