Lincoln, NE, (December 31, 2005) Entering their second season, with increased support and a fresh new image, the Caterpillar ¿ SoCal ¿ Helpmeride.com – FMF team will compete in the AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross series.
“Things are going good. The transporter and team are in California already, we have a few new sponsors, but most all other sponsors are returning from 2005. The team has realistic goals and the atmosphere under the awning is relaxed. Ken Lile and Rob Goodwin are also back for 2006 doing the mechanical duties,” stated team manager Kevin Maret.
A new title sponsor for 2006 is Caterpillar. “We are very excited to be associated with Caterpillar. They are a major corporation and for them to partner with Tamer Motorsports says a lot of our program from top to bottom,” continued Maret. “We are new to this game and entering our second season of Supercross racing, we are very fortunate to have the people and organizations surrounding us that we do.”
Also new to their effort is HMR or helpmeride.com. HMR is a motorcycle financing company along with insurances, roadside assistance and warranties, both dealer and consumer. “We are very excited to work with Larry and the HMR crew. He is very energetic and knows his market and our goal is to increase that market through Supercross.” Along with HMR comes support from Hooters Restaurants.
Long time sponsor SoCal Racing and DeCal Works will stay on board for another season as a title sponsor. “SoCal race wear is the most durable race wear on the market today hands down and the new 2006 colors are sure to please and the DeCal Works graphics, these guys have it figured out. Everyone else in this market is playing catch up. They are of incredible quality and turn around time is just as incredible,” says Maret. “Without Ron and his crew, this program would have been difficult. The work ethic of the entire staff is unbelievable.”
And back on board after their Arenacross days is FMF. “FMF, the World leader in exhaust systems, supported Tamer in Arenacross and is now back on board for Supercross as a title sponsor. I have known Donnie for a long time and to be working with him and Little D and the entire staff, is a pleasure,” says Kevin Maret.
The team began testing in October. “This is the earliest we have ever began testing. John Mitchell of JM Racing is doing the motors and suspension and I owe a lot to him and his staff as John has been in charge of our test program in Texas and has done a wonderful job. By the end of November, the rider’s were riding their race setups,” stated Maret. “We are more prepared than ever and with Erick Vallejo and Jacob Saylor riding the Honda CRF450R’s, I feel fortunate to have the quality of program I have in such a short amount of time. Erick will be national number 58 and Jacob will be 198.”
New to the rider roster is Ryan Grantom. The teenage sensation from Texas will compete on the Honda CRF250R in the Supercross Lites East coast series. “Ryan is quick and smooth. We are excited to develop him over the next few years.”
