“NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw” will air interview with Kawasaki’s prodigy on Sept. 8
IRVINE, Calif. (September 3, 2003) — James Stewart’s ground-breaking career and quick rise to fame has caught the attention of many of the nation’s top media outlets during his two years of professional racing for Team Chevy Trucks Kawasaki. The national spotlight will once again hit Kawasaki’s 17-year-old prodigy in the form of an interview that will air on Monday, Sept. 8, on “NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw.”
Stewart’s interview, which was conducted by Roger O’Neill, a correspondent for the popular show, will be included in a segment on young athletes who have turned professional at an early age. Other athletes that were interviewed for the piece were 13-year-old LPGA golfer Michelle Wie and 17-year-old U.S. national soccer team member DaMarcus Beasley.
The taping of Stewart’s interview took place at the family’s residence in Haines City, Fla., a 79-acre property that also houses three practice tracks and three accompanying workshops. Two photos taken by Sheryl Van der Leun, of the Motorcycle Industry Council, have been attached for publicity purposes.
