EL CAJON, CA (4/21/05) ¿ The Seattle Supercross brought a successful end to a major team goal. THOR riders Grant Langston and Ivan Tedesco officially solidified the top spots in their respective series. In doing so, they added themselves to Thor’s team of Champions; and put their names in elite company as only the third set of teammates to sweep the 125cc class.
Grant brought home the hardware first, wrapping up the East Championship at the final round at Texas Stadium in Irving, TX. He finished the season tied in points with KTM’s Josh Hansen, but was able to capture the #1 plate due to his 3 race wins ¿ the most in his class.
Grant battled through sickness, injuries, and a big crash in Daytona; but through it all was able to remain consistent. With the backing of his new Monster/Pro-Circuit team, along with his wife Chelsey and new-born son Devan, Grant grabbed the elusive Supercross crown – which was the only thing missing from his impressive resume.
With Grant holding up his end of the bargain, all eyes turned to Ivan at Qwest Field in Seattle¿and he didn’t disappoint.
Ivan finished the round on the podium, and clinched his second consecutive West Championship.
Misfortune and Mother Nature made Ivan’s second trip to the top more difficult than the first, but in the end he was able to prove (much like Grant) that consistency wins championships. With Monster/Pro-Circuit and wife Theresa by his side, Ivan cemented himself atop the West standings with one round remaining ¿ giving him 15 victory laps at the final round in Houston before he goes head-to-head with teammate Grant at the East / West Shootout in Las Vegas.
Thor MX wants to thank all the sponsors and everyone that was instrumental in both championship runs, especially Monster/Pro-Circuit, Parts Unlimited, Mitch Payton, Jeff Fox, Andy Gustafson, and without a doubt the two GREAT riders¿Grant and Ivan¿Congratulations on a fantastic 2005 Supercross season!
