Tuesday Kickstart? Yup. Sometimes Mondays just aren’t in the cards. For the TWMX crew, our Monday (and Sunday night) were spent traveling from Brescia, Italy to Milan, then to London, then finally to LAX. What started at around 5:30 am Brussels time on Sunday morning (9:30pm Pacific Standard time Saturday) finally ended at 3 pm Pacific time in Los Angeles when we finally landed on our home soil, delirious and sleep-deprived. After a whirlwind day of covering USA’s “B-Team” win of the 2009 Motocross of Nations, we drove almost directly to the airport in Milan and started our return trip to California. In short, it was a loooong day. (If you want to check out some of TWMX’s exploits in Italy, check out Swap’s Blog)
So anyway… What a race! The Motocross of Nations rarely disappoints, and this year was no exception. Easily the biggest and highest-attended of all de Nations, this weekend’s festivities in Italy proved that motocross is alive and well despite the global economic woes. With over 90,000 clicks through the gate entrance turnstiles over the course of the weekend, a sea of fans surrounded the brand-new track both for qualifying on Saturday and racing on Sunday. As for the track; to say that it was well-put together is an understatement. For such a young track (a couple weeks old) it held together like a well-established motocross facility and, unlike Donnington last year, the soil looked great. True, the track did get pretty rough by weekend’s end, but we were quite impressed that they put together such a quality track for just this one race.
The fans at Franciacorta were amazing! All 90,000 of them.
The 2010 Motocross of Nations is in Colorado next year at Thunder Valley right next to Denver. Start planning your trip now! If you have never been to a Motocross of Nations and consider yourself a moto fan, this is your chance. David Claybaugh and the Thunder Valley crew, along with Youthstream, are sure to come correct. We are already geeked up for it. The only problem is that it’s a whole year away!

Now…. for my real comment. What the "F" is up with Weimer, I had first commented on his "Jimmy MacElroy" haircut, and now he's smooching up with Tedesco?

I was there repping the good'ol USA.. was so sick! I thought I was going to get a rock to the back of my head when Dungey was out front, and I was the only American on the hill jumping up and down. But the Italians are a awesome bunch and didn't kill me. especialy after Tony Cairoli went down in the first turn. "ouch"!
As for Mitch Cook, I know him from Dubai, and he did have a shit start because of the clutch.. also went down hard a few minutes later trying to catch up. busted his shoulder it looked like..
Can't wait for next year as the Italians are fast as hell and France should have their "A" team.

Tedesco ought to be picked again. At Thunder Valley he is unstoppable. He's won motos there in both classes.
And Stewart will be hung for treason if he's not racing there too.
