The twisty, sandy courses of Los Angeles County Raceway in Palmdale, California, will host the action of the TWMX Race Series El Dorado Nationals finale this Sunday, and we’re set for a great weekend of racing at the most unique track in all of SoCal. Laid out in a retired rock and gravel quarry, the dirt has been sifted continuously for years and what’s left is the sandiest course in SoCal. The first time you drive into the facility, the only thing that comes to mind is that he track looks like a giant video game. Perfect jump faces, beautifully groomed berms…it’s the stuff that motocross dreams are made of.
Even if you’ve never been to LACR, we’re betting that you’ve seen the video that went viral of Rookie White connecting several jumps and making a massive 250-foot quad jump. Don’t worry…that set of jumps isn’t on the track any more and you don’t have to worry about trying it yourself, but there is a good chance that White will come out to contest for the pro class wins aboard his Yamahas.
Here’s the clip, in case you’ve never seen it.
Racing in the mini classes is always full of great action, and we expect this weekend at LACR to be no different. Kawasaki Team Green Rider Stilez Robertson showed up at the last round at Milestone and put on a riding clinic, topping TWMXRS’ regular big dog in the mini classes, Kai Aiello.
On the other end of the 85cc spectrum, a great battle for the 85/150 Beginner class championship is coming down to the wire between Jesse Grasso, Jack Gianformaggio and Daimon Pine. The three riders are separated by only six points, and anything can happen at the series finale. Of course, in addition to the extra-cool series overall trophies, there’s that tour through the prize area that’s worth racing extra hard for.
Equally popular are the vet classes at the TWMX Race Series, as tons of “experienced” racers show up at each and every round to strut their stuff. Among them is Yamaha rider Paul Kuehnel, who is primed to take the championship in the 40 Intermediate class. Recently returned from a complete knee reconstruction, his speed and determination on the track has been impressive.
Above all, it is the family atmosphere and smoothly run program at the TWMX Race Series events that keeps racers coming back for more. Please make plans to join us this weekend for a good time! CLICK HERE to pre-register now!
