CARLSBAD, Calif., (Aug. 14, 2006) — Unbound Energy Drink-backed Broc Hepler (Suzuki) won the second moto at Millville’s (Minn.) Spring Creek MX Park on Sunday, leading the moto from start to finish and claiming the overall Lites class win — his first of the year.
In the premier motocross class, Chad Reed (Yamaha) blazed to a 3rd place finish in the first Motocross class moto at Millville (Minn.) this past weekend. Then all heck broke loose with the weather in the second moto and Reed uncharacteristically failed to finish.
So leading the Unbound Energy Drink-backed Motocross class racers this past weekend — with his best finish of the year — was Unbound/ Moto XXX’s Kyle Lewis. Lewis was 8th overall on the afternoon with a solid 11-12 two moto performance. Also scoring points for Unbound Energy/Moto XXX was Tim Ferry, who rallied back to an 8th place finish in the second moto after a DNF in the first moto to salvage a top 15 overall (14th). Josh Summey would wind up 21st overall and slip from the top ten in the overall standings (11th) for the first time this summer.
Also making the top 15 overall in the Motocross class was Unbound Energy/MDK Motorsports’ Nick Wey. Wey, who had won at Millville before (’99), went 13-13 for 12th place overall. The effort was enough to keep Wey well within the top ten in the overall standings (8th).
Hepler’s Lites class victory marked the return of the hyper-fast Pennsylvania native who missed the entire ’05 supercross season with an injury. The win at Millville was Hepler’s third of his career (Binghamton & Steel City in 2005).
All of the Unbound Energy Drink -backed athletes return to action for Round Ten of the 2006 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship at Binghamton, N.Y. (Aug. 20th).
