CORONA, Calif., (April 23, 2007) — The only rider to make all 14 podiums in this year’s Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series, Unbound Energy Drink’s Chad Reed, put up another impressive finish in placing 2nd overall in the main event at Detroit’s Ford Field on Saturday.
With the effort Reed (San Manuel/Yamaha) still has a mathematical shot at the overall championship points leader James Stewart, 335-297, with two races remaining on the schedule (Seattle & Las Vegas).
Reed opened the evening looking tough with a 2nd place finish in his heat race. In the main he didn’t get quite the start he wanted (6th after the first lap), but put on an early race charge and made it up to the third spot. Reed trailed fellow Floridian Tim Ferry for much of the contest, but kept gaining and gaining on Ferry until he was able to dispense of the Kawasaki on lap 15 (of 20).
“I’m looking forward to racing up in Seattle this weekend, said Reed. “I like that part of the country, fans are always into it despite the weather and I hope to improve on my 2nd place finish there last year.
Next up for Unbound Energy Drink’s Reed is Round 15 of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series at Seattle’s Qwest Field (April 28).
