WMA Championship Concludes at Steel City

Bend, OR (August 31, 2005) — The final round of the 2005 AMA/WMA National Motocross Championship will be held this weekend, September 3rd, at the Steel City National.

Moto XXX/Honda of Houston’s Jessica Patterson is coming into the National with a 13-point lead over Bluestarrmx’s Sarah Whitmore. “I’m not thinking about the points lead, I am coming to win both motos,” said Patterson, “I like the track, it really suits my riding style.”

Prior to Round 4 of the WMA championship at Washougal, Tarah Geiger had been tied with Whitmore in points, but crashed during moto two and is out from racing until October. The battle for 3rd in the Championship between Tania Satchwell (Hon) and the Yamaha mounted Alisa Nix is likely to be a good one.

Also Pennsylvania’s Jessica Gebhardt (Suz) will be looking to place on the podium at Steel City again, after getting her first pro podium last year.

Highlights of the WMA Pro National will be included in OLN’s broadcast of the AMA 125cc Motocross show of Steel City that will air Thursday, Sept. 15th. In addition, WMA pro racing will be featured in an upcoming GKA show which airs on Fuel TV.

The WMA is sponsored by Hitachi, Z1R Helmets, Honda, Kawasaki, Dunlop Tires, Scott USA, Sick Racing, Alpinestars, VP Fuels, Thor MX, Scott USA, Pro Clean, Mirage Trailers, Ready Filter, Northwest Motorsports, I Precision Graphics, and Champion Wheel.
