Wonder Warthog Racing Opens to Rave Reviews!

History was made last Friday night at Dave and Buster’s in Anaheim, California, when Wonder Warthog Racing, Inc. (WWR), a unique company formed to better the sport of motocross, hosted a party to announce the creation of two wholly owned subsidiary companies: Team Warthog, a not-for-profit whose sole purpose is to conceptualize, fund, and execute meaningful programs that directly support privateer motocross racers; and Wonder Warthog Apparel, which will sell casual clothes to the mass market based on the Wonder Warthog comic book character, with a portion of the revenues earmarked for Team Warthog funding.

WWR founders Scott Kandel and Steve Bauer detailed the Team Warthog privateer support program to an enthusiastic group of racers, fans and supporters.  This came on the heels of a long day at Edison Field; one which saw WWR volunteers successfully register nearly one hundred privateers for the PEPP (Privateer Evening Program Payout), the first of what is hoped will be a long line of programs benefiting the riders who comprise the soul of the sport.

Many of those same riders later came to the party, as did some non-privateer pros who attended as a show of support for their fellow racers.    Among them were David Vuillemin, Trevor Vines, Josh Hansen, and Shae Bentley .  Other notable attendees spotted partaking of the complimentary food and drinks were Denny Hartwig (Clear Channel Entertainment), Rob Buydos (Parts Unlimited), Terry Beal (Yamaha), Dr. Crystal Nyberg (Asterisk Medical), Sharon Richards (OMS), Paul Lindsay (MotoworldRacing.com), Bill and Pam Kuse (River MX), Steve Bruhn (Motonews.com), Steve Giberson (TransWorld MX), Mike Farber (Racer X) and a host of other industry folks.

A total of 32 registered privateer riders qualified for the evening program at round five of the THQ AMA Supercross Series, held in front of a crowd of over 45,000 fans on Saturday night at Edison Field in Anaheim, with four of them making the show in both the 125 and 250 classes.    Veteran Northern California privateer Suzuki racer Scott Davis beat half the field in his semi-final event while wearing the jersey and cape of the Wonder Warthog!

WWR sent checks totaling $4,060.00 to registered privateers for this event.

WWR thanks our charter primary sponsor, Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant, and the many enthusiast level contributors who’ve stepped up to support our efforts.

WWR is extremely grateful to our friends at both Clear Channel Entertainment and AMA Pro Racing for their acceptance and help in integrating our ideas with their existing package of programs designed to benefit the privateer.
