Yamaha Announces 2003 MX Team

Yamaha Motor Corp., USA is proud to announce the Factory Motocross Team for the 2003 AMA Supercross and National season. The Yamaha Factory Racing team will race the premiere 250cc class aboard its YZ250 two-strokes and all-new YZ450F four-stroke?s.

Current Yamaha Factory racers Tim Ferry and David Vuillemin will need to condense their trophy area within the factory trailer as Chad Reed, and his 125 East Supercross Championship #1 Plate, join the team. After winning the championship on his Yamaha of Troy-prepped YZ250F, his first year on the Supercross circuit, Chad is sure to make an immediate impact next year in the 250cc class.

Missing from the team is Jeremy McGrath. ?Jeremy brought us Supercross championships and unmeasurable joy to Yamaha fans throughout the world during his five years competing on the YZ250. His legacy and fan appeal will live on forever in the hearts and minds of everyone here at Yamaha,? said Keith McCarty, Racing Division Manager.

?I?ve thoroughly enjoyed my relationship with everyone at Yamaha and I wanted to finish my career on a Yamaha, however, we were unable to come to an agreement,? said Jeremy McGrath. ?I would like to thank Yamaha for their support during our five-year relationship and 3 Supercross championships. I still love what I do and am looking forward to the future with my team.?

Tim Ferry, David Vuillemin and Chad Reed will keep the blue YZs on the podium when the gate drops next year at Edison Field in Anaheim, CA. on January 4th, 2003. Yamaha Motor Corp., USA will continue its successful relationship with Yamaha of Troy, fielding a team in the 125cc class for the 2003 season. The official Yamaha of Troy team will be announced shortly.
