Yamaha Donations Help Further Minnesota ATV Trail Development

Cypress, CA — September 21, 2006 — Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA, in its ongoing efforts to further ATV trail access and promote safe, responsible riding, recently donated funds to help finance an economic impact study conducted by the University of Minnesota Tourism Center. The study, titled “All-Terrain Vehicles in Minnesota: Economic Impact and Consumer Profile was commissioned by the ATV Association of Minnesota (ATVAM) and is being used on local, regional, state and national levels to promote the development and preservation of ATV trails.

“This study is one of the most important things the ATVAM has ever done, and we appreciate Yamaha’s contribution and support, said Phill Morud, president of the ATVAM. “This is the first time the economic impact numbers from ATV riders have been compiled in Minnesota. We plan to use the information statewide to help show the far reaching benefits of providing and supporting ATV trails.

The study focused on economic impacts related to ATV manufacturing, sales and use in the state, and the results demonstrated, among other things, that ATV users contribute approximately $642 million in retail sales directly to Minnesota’s economy. According to ATVAM, these findings will assist the organization in advancing its efforts to promote land access rights, trail development and conservation.

“Yamaha is a leading advocate for trail access and conservation along with safe, responsible riding across the country, said Mike Martinez, Yamaha General Manager of ATV & SxS Operations. “The economic benefits generated by ATV and SxS owners are obvious and far-reaching in Minnesota. We are proud to support organizations, such as ATVAM, that work hard to promote appropriate and responsible land use in their states.
