2016 Transworld Motocross Industry Cup | Race Report
For the last seven years, TransWorld MX has given the entire motocross industry the best excuse possible to skip a typical work day of meetings, answering e-mails and dodging the boss at the office for a day of racing with your co-workers; The Annual TransWorld Motocross Industry Cup. Call it a well deserved holiday for those who put their blood, sweat and tears into the motocross industry. Each year brings new memories, and this year was no different, as several changes were implemented this year to level the playing field for every skill level.
For the first time, the TWMX Industry Cup featured a Grand Prix style racing format consisting of three separate classes (Desk Jockey, Intermediate and Pro), each of which were divided into age groups. This allowed for anyone to race on their own without having to be tied to a three-man team. However, the team of three option was still available for brands with a rider entered in each class, as the coveted Tretta-Motoda Cup was once again up for grabs from last year’s winners Motosport.com. Likely the best addition to this year’s TWMX Industry Cup though, was the GP style racetrack. It’s no secret anymore that Milestone MX was once a thoroughbred horse training facility, and it’s evident around much of the property, as a number of stables are still in use today. With this in mind, the Milestone MX track crew created an amazing one-off GP style racetrack that consisted of everything from a super-challenging uphill to a mud pit that plagued riders all day along with several wide-open straightaways and yes, the course even ran through a barn!
When it was all said and done, it was team Troy Lee Designs who hoisted the Tretta-Motoda Cup atop the podium thanks to strong rides from Max Lee, Kyle Lane and Anthony Amos. Following up in second was the Hell On Wheels gang consisting of Dennis Stapleton, Jason Clemens and Micah Davis and rounding out the top three was TWMX’s own Donn Maeda, Don Wilson and John Simanovich.
Thanks to all who joined us today for the TWMX Industry Cup, and stay tuned for more from tomorrow’s Annual TWMX SLAM Festival.
