Trey Canard qualified for the main event at the 2017 Anaheim One SX, but just before the gate dropped, the Red Bull KTM rider pulled out of the starting area. Earlier in the day Canard suffered a practice crash, which resulted in some damage to his shoulder. The severity of the issue was kept quiet on Saturday, yet Canard’s absence from the feature was a sign that something was certainly amiss. Red Bull KTM has just issued a press release on the injury and confirm that Canard will miss the second round of the series.
After further evaluation, the doctors have confirmed that Canard has sustained a minor rotator cuff tear and will miss Round 2 this Saturday in San Diego.
Canard: "The good news is that the tear is minor and doesn't require any type of surgery. It feels extremely sore right now because of the swelling and fluid that has built up around it but once the swelling goes down the doctor says I should be good to go."
