Heading into the fifth round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series in San Diego, California, Geico Honda’s Eli Tomac led second place rider Dean Wilson by 22-points in the West Coast Lites series. When it seemed like Tomac wasn’t going to get challenged for the championship, disaster struck when he was ejected off of his bike, and into the whoops. The unfortunate crash resulted with a damaged elbow, but more importantly, a DNF for the Honda rider. This allowed Wilson to move into the points lead, and Tomac had to forfeit his red backgrounds that he had been carrying almost all season long. Fortunately for Tomac, San Diego was the last race before the West Coast Lites series took a break, and 10 weeks later, Eli is 100% healed up and ready to battle for the championship.
So, we caught up with Eli while he was out practicing at Milestone MX in Riverside, California, and this is what he had to say.
