California privateer Scott Champion to Fill in For Yamaha’s Josh Hill at Washougal
Scott Champion, a Honda-mounted privateer from Temecula, California, will fill in for Josh Hill aboard a factory Yamaha YZ450F at this weekend’s Washougal National. Hill is sitting out his hometown race, as a nagging back injury has kept him from showing his true potential.
Champion, on hand at Washougal for the 2010 Yamaha YZ250F press introduction as a Vital MX test rider, was recruited only minutes ago. “I’m so excited,” said the 20-year-old. “This is a dream come true. I get to live the dream for a day. I don’t even really have a bike of my own right now. I’ve been racing my girlfriend Erin Normoyle’s bike at the Nationals.”
This weekend will mark Champion’s first 450 class race. Keep an eye out for Champion aboard a number 152 YZ450F.
