Chaplin, CT – It was a weekend for the record books in Daytona for Chaplin Kawasaki. Rain drenched and grueling the muddy ruts, Ricky Renner placed 6th amongst the top Fast40. Determined & eager to succeed Renner passed out skilled factory riders Rockstar/Mikata/Suzuki Niko Izzi, Honda Redbull Racing rider Ben Colsy and Monster/ProCircuit/Kawasaki Branden Jesseman, earning himself a position at the gate in the main event.
The highlight of the night for Chaplin Kawasaki thou was when Robby Marshall raced his way into the big show by placing 1st and winning the LCQ.
Drudging through mud soaked track that night, both Kawasaki riders stayed strong throughout the main. Renner, racing his KX250F, took 9th position with 16 overall points and best time of 1:18:049 on the 8th lap. Marshall also on a KX250F, followed with 13th, 8 points and his best time 1:23:062 on the 3rd.
Daytona was the place for self-redemption Friday night. Coming back from the previous weekend in Indy where the odds were stacked against Chaplin’s side when Ricky sustained injuries due to a crash on a triple during the qualifiers and Robby with all his efforts in check, couldn’t find the speed to make into the main last Saturday.
Look for Chaplin Kawasaki at the next eastcoast race at Minneapolis’s race track on Saturday, March 15th.
