Jason Lawrence Sentenced to One Year in Jail

Former Western Region 250cc Supercross Champion Jason Lawrence was booked and arrested on Tuesday, September 8, on charges related to his assault of his friend Ryan McPhillips last summer. Lawrence was sentenced to one year in a Riverside County jail, but has yet to be placed into a specific facility.
In a conversation with Lawrence’s agent Scott Sepkovic this morning, Wednesday, September 9, we learned that the J-Law Inc. team will carry on in 2010 and beyond, with team riders to be named shortly.
“The judge was very favorable,” said Sepkovic. “In the end, I believe that the final outcome will be a positive one.”

I can't see the AMA letting him come back for at least a year or two after he gets out, and I'm sure by then the game will have passed him by along with any sensible sponsors.

guys needs some serious time to reflect. forget moto, he has much more serious issues that he needs to get squared away. we can only hope his time in jail makes him want to turn his life around and not make him a hardened criminal. his attitude over the last 2/3rds of the season now makes sense.

what the heck has happened in this country where u can't get in a dam fight with your friends anymore. my friends i've had for 20 years, we've all come to trading knuckles at one time or another, and would never dare press charges. jlaws friend is a punk biaatch, bottom line. get over it dude, he just wants money. jlaw was trying to stay out of trouble. a little time in the hole should straighten the kid out for good or send him off another less rightous path in life. i hope he does race again, i will be cheering him on from now when everybody has jumped off the jlaw wagon and again when everyone is back onboard. when jlaw gets out of jail he should go straight to ryans house and beat his a$$ again.

This sucks!!, I really like J-Law and his open attitude of what you see is what you get. No behind your back, off the track in the shadows bull crap that many riders would have you think motocross is. He is the real face most young kids in this sport. Don't fool yourself, motocross has some of the most spoiled stuck up ass of a kids you want to see. I live in south central los angeles where i see the real stuff go down,not this want to be bad suburban tatooed, pierced, cap side ways,baggy pants,parents give you everything fake wussys!!. J-Law lost his factory ride but it did not stop him from his dream. Do it yourself !!. Very insperational !!!.

Naturally talented for MX & SX but missing what it takes work well with others and missing the work ethic to take advantage of his natural talent. Like Chad said "you got to be in it to win it". JL looks to have given up trying to work hard as soon as he won his SX-lites plate. Remember when he pulled out of the last race in Vegas the year he won his plate. He was getting smoked by lesser riders at that race before he pulled off because he had given up on the work necessary to continue to be a success as soon as he won that plate. He has not done much since then. Yes, he speaks his mind which can be entertaining. But if he is not on the box it does not matter what he say's because nobody will hear him.

The only way for Jason to drop off the map is if he gives up on himself. I hardly think a few months or a year in jail will knock him out of competition. Have you people ever watched motocross? Injuries last just as long and are harder to overcome. It's not like he's a superior technician…he's a natural talent, that stays with you. Did anyone see Dowd this year? Sucks for Jason, us and motocross but he's got to pull it together. Lets wish him luck and support him so hopefully he will come back and continue to entertain by battling other great riders.
