After hearing rumors that the FIM has again suspended Jason Lawrence, we made a couple phone calls to see if it were true. According to Boost Mobile/ampm/Monster Energy/Troy Racing Team Manager Chris McAvoy, the AMA has indeed issued a one-race suspension to Lawrence for his actions at the Jacksonville Supercross for his actions against Team Yamaha’s Broc Hepler in the main event.
“Obviously, Jason is super bummed,” said McAvoy. “He knows that he messed up, but we all feel that the penalties handed down by the FIM are a little on the extreme side.”
Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available, likely in the form of a press release from the FIM.

what happend between j law and hepler?
April 16th, 2009 at 5:20 pm
Come on are you serious?!!!
That is the dumbest thing ever.
It was just racing.
AMA needs to leave J law alone!
April 16th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
J-law is a bloody piece of meat, and the ama are a bunch of staeving pirahnas.
April 16th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
Shit man… Verybad news….
April 16th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
If anyone was there in Jax and saw what happened you would know it was typical stupid J-Law stuff. He needs to grow up or get out.
April 16th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
thats so retarded , now the AMA is just looking for things to suspend him on. HE DIDNT EVEN DO ANYTHING, thats how u race, do they not watch the races. God WHAT IDIOTS!!!!
April 16th, 2009 at 6:04 pm
The AMA sucks ass, and we need another organization to put on motocross and supercross with out so much bull sh#t. J-Law is the real deal and a threat to the factory giants so the powers that be are out to get him. J-Law has proved that even a unsponsored racer can kick the butts of the factory stars!. Enough said I am getting more pissed just thinking about it!!. Fu#k the Ama!!!.

He’s wicked fast and a natural on the bike but he’s slow upstairs. Once ur nailed the first time you will always have a target on ur back for the authorities to take aim at. He made it harder on himself screwing up the first time, just means he has to work harder to stay in the game. We are all playing the same game, so stop the whining.
April 16th, 2009 at 6:21 pm
Its obvious not one of you saw the BS that he was pulling. They didn’t show it on TV. If you weren’t there you have no idea. It wasn’t racing at all. It was childish and thankfully the AMA stepped in so that kind of stuff won’t ruin our sport and stop the networks from airing SX.
April 16th, 2009 at 6:40 pm
if you cant take the heat get out the kitchen… J-law is baaadddd
April 16th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
Chad Reed can grab stewart by the neck and tell him that he is going to kill him, Threaten to put stewart in row F, Stuff everybody on the course and he still gets to race, Let alone not get fined. THey have a hardon for Lawrence and it is Bulls$&^%. THe kids been trying to. The FIM is just killing a great fan draw, if I would have heard about this earlier this week, I wouldn’t have bought Seattle tickets.
April 16th, 2009 at 6:59 pm
the AMA and FIM need to go away, this is like nascar, cant even race anymore, what happend to rubbin is racin??? total double standard with the bubba and chad thing, at least fine chad. this is the pussafication of racin, i want to go back to the 90’s when it was real racin. as long as there are no fists flying then let it go, if broc aint good enough to get in front and pull away from jasaon then get out and go to your truck
April 16th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
agree with Kj, this is BS. if Hepler did that to him they still proly woulda suspended j-law. The ama/FIM needs to get laid or something to give them something real to do.
April 16th, 2009 at 7:16 pm
i guess that is is also typical stupid j-law stuff to loan out his bike to another rider too then huh?? how often do you hear of other riders at his level doing that?
April 16th, 2009 at 7:29 pm
AMA=Pussies! J Law can’t do anything anymore without having the AMA suspend him on some BULL$hit!
April 16th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
certain riders can get away with pulling this kind of ish from time to time. jlaw has to know that he has a target on his back and that he is not one of those riders. he needs to stop giving the ama or fim reasons to suspend him. too much talent to be sitting in the pits every other race because he cant control his anger
April 16th, 2009 at 8:07 pm
thats not the point… sure he does some really nice things but his take out on hepler was a bit uncalled… yes rubbin is racing but there is a certain extenet to that, he did a very agressive take out on one of the first laps… yes most other riders would not have been penalized but the ama has lawrence on restriction for his past problems so he is penalized under less circumstances
April 16th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
leave J law alone he is a super fast rider i think he is good for the sport because ama is getting to candy ass to much dont do this and dont do that come on guys
April 16th, 2009 at 8:20 pm
LEAVE JLAW ALONE
April 16th, 2009 at 8:23 pm
J LAW JUST BRINGS BACK REAL RACING AMA IS GETTING TO MUCH DONT DO THIS AND DONT DO THAT BUT THEY DONT SUSPEND STEWART FOR PRETTY MUCH PROVOKING REED AND PLAYING CAT AND MOUSE GAMES COME OFF THE TRIPLE AND AND CUT REED OFF COME ON BUT THEY JUST WANT SOMEONE TO PICK ON SUPERCROSS IS BECOMING BARBIE CROSS
April 16th, 2009 at 8:31 pm
how many times was say…. bob hannah suspended? and he vocally hated everybody. in the old days theyd even take their friends out. its all about the money…..
April 16th, 2009 at 10:19 pm
The AMA bullies Lawrence, straight up.
April 17th, 2009 at 5:53 pm
that is such b.s. cuz if that was stewart and reed they would just say rubbin is racing!!!! they hate on jason cuz no matter what it is the guy can ride hands down and he will be a threat next year in the big class if they stop f***ing with him
April 18th, 2009 at 8:21 am
When you are a fast ass*ole your still an ass*hole. This guy makes me want to buy anything other than what he is sponsered for but that is impossible.
April 18th, 2009 at 8:51 pm
they should congratualate him on his stupid stuff. makes it more exciting
April 19th, 2009 at 12:22 pm
I’ve been racing and riding since the 70’s and have watched every form of racing become sooooo polite.
I record the supercross events and buzz through them out of habit, but I discovered mixed marital arts last year and am hooked on UFC and WEC.
Motocross without bar banging is lame. Less fodder for lawyers maybe, but lame.
I agree that Lawrence needs to get his emotions under control, but he is more fun to watch than everyone else in his class and his absences reduce the fan appeal.
If you really want to punish Lawrence throw him into the cage with Urijah Faber so he can work off some of his off-track aggression.
April 19th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
soo true!! leave the poor guy alone and forget about his previous problems…he’s trying to do his best out there.and yeahh its juss racing..pick on someone else AMA
April 21st, 2009 at 3:26 pm
The AMA must have hired someone from ‘flag football’ to make up and assess these penalties… I’d like to turn in my AMA card right now, for ‘official calls’ like this! Don’t you NEED our fees to continue overseeing this sport???
HOW many penalties would they ‘issue’ today, if the exact 1986 Anaheim race happened again???? (The GREATEST race of ALL TIME?)
That’s what brings us all back…. the ‘possibility’ THAT race COULD happen again!
How about THIS, AMA:… Why don’t we just get rid of side-by-side racing all together and let each rider do their own safe and sound laps, complete with “Huggies” for impact barriers and tough blocks, and just ‘time’ everyone separately. Then, add up the final times and see who wins, as the KTM junior supercross goes on??? Would that take the ‘danger’ out of supercross, enough for the AMA to be happy????????????????????????????????????????????
If ANYONE is going to be ‘taken out’… they KNOW it, about 3 seconds BEFORE it happens!!!… EACH and EVERY person has the physical ability to ‘let off the gas’ if some ‘crazy’ rider is about to pass them… IF they get bumped they get bumped, each rider has a decision to make! The bumper the bumpee…
If someone gets put in the corner a little hard,… They are either going to have to come back and make a REALLY good ‘re-pass’ and put some distance between them, or expect some more bumping to come their way!!! It’s supercross ye morons!!!! YOU know what SPORT you signed up for!!!…… Why the AMA wants to ‘BITE’ the hand that feeds it, is BEYOND ME!!! If there were ‘no contact’ in this sport, it NEVER would have made it into the Stadiums to BEGIN with….
April 21st, 2009 at 3:34 pm
dude i was at j-ville and i saw him ride. he rode great. i didnt even see him do something to hepler and if he did it was just hiim being aggresive trying his best to win like every other racer.
April 21st, 2009 at 3:59 pm
Yeah, Each sport has it’s whipping boy. Jason screwed up once and the target was drawn on his back. Cry baby reed…can do no wrong.
Loved it when his engine torched at Daytona last year, Karma.
April 22nd, 2009 at 3:03 pm
AMA officals must not watch stewart and reed work there way up from the back of the pack. the stuff riders left and right, take there lines, and whip scrubs right in there faces. If Lawremce wants to stuff someone everyone flips out. i have seen more take outs in supercross than i can even remember yet they were proly viewed as “accidental” by the AMA.
May 8th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
I was at Jacksonville, and didn't see anything but REAL racing. I think that the punishments that are handed out to Jason are unfair, and biased based on past events.
When in reality other riders such as Kyle Chislom and what he did to Chad Reed was so much less severe, than some "Rough Riding." I think AMA needs to back off J-law, and let him do what he does best, and what his job is, and that is to RIDE.
