Torrance CA: American Honda is pleased to announce that Jimmy Albertson, privateer Honda pilot, will ride the remaining three rounds of the 2008 AMA National Motocross Championship under the Honda Red Bull Racing banner. Albertson’s solid results in the Motocross Championship prompted American Honda to extend an opportunity to the talented racer to step up and ride the factory-prepared CRF450R.
The 19-year-old Billington, Missouri native placed sixth overall at round nine of the Motocross Championship in Washougal, WA and it was his fourth consecutive overall top-ten result in his first full Motocross season. Albertson made his pro debut as a privateer racer in 2006 and his career aspiration is to secure a factory ride. His list of achievements includes winning the Missouri State Motocross title ten times and he is a multi-time Amateur National Champion. Having the opportunity to ride for Honda Red Bull Racing alongside Ivan Tedesco and Andrew Short is a dream come true for Albertson.
“I am absolutely stoked to be a part of the Honda Red Bull Racing team at Millville, followed by Southwick, and Steel City,” said Albertson. “Riding for the factory Honda team has been my dream. My season just keeps getting better and better and having the opportunity to ride alongside Ivan and Andrew at the next three events is awesome. I look up to both those guys, so sharing a transporter and being able to learn from them is something I am not going to take for granted.
“My trainer, family, especially my brother Gregg—who without his help I would not go racing each week—and friends have given me amazing support throughout my career, so this is a great reward for them also. Everyone on the team and at Honda has made me feel so welcome. I can’t thank them enough.”
Honda Red Bull Racing Team Manager Erik Kehoe welcomes Albertson to the Honda starting line-up.
“We are really excited at the prospect of having such a hard working and talented rider on the team,” said Kehoe. “The opportunity to ride a full factory prepared and supported race machine doesn’t come up very often and we are certain he will make the most of the chance to be a Honda Red Bull racer and experience the CRF450R at a factory level.
“Ben Townley’s slot being available for the remainder of this season gave us the opportunity to give up-and-coming riders such as Jimmy the chance to demonstrate their ability at the next level. Ivan will make his return to racing at Millville alongside Jimmy and Andrew, who has done a great job flying the Honda flag at every round this year, and we also look forward to Davi Millsaps getting back up to full race speed before the end of the season.”

Jimmy was clearly the best choice for talent and he comes without the baggage Alessi carries around full time.
