When the news that Josh Hill and RCH/Soaring Eagle/Suzuki had ended their relationship, many wondered what the very popular and talented rider would do during the summer. It has been years since Hill had contested the full Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, due to injury and Supercross only contracts, and pulling a program together at the last minute would be almost impossible.
As luck would have it, Hill’s release occurred in the same timeframe as a series of events with Monster Energy Kawasaki. Ryan Villopoto was working through a lingering knee injury that would ultimately force him to miss the defending his National title, and Kawasaki pulled Brett Metcalfe from his own title defense at the Rockstar Energy Drink Motocross Nationals in Canada. This created a vacant spot at Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki, and Hill is expected to spend the summer with the team up north. While is contract is reportedly still unsigned, we spotted Josh Hill aboard a freshly built race bike at Milestone MX Park in Riverside, California, on Monday morning in a quick shakedown ride.
