As many of you will recall, former amateur standout and Suzuki rider, Justin Weeks, suffered some serious injuries towards the end of the AMA Outdoor Nationals. Justin’s first ever National appearance cam at Unadilla, where he had 18-15 moto scores for 15th overall. Not bad for a debut. The following weekened at Budds Creek, Justin had some issues, but still the promise was there for some potential in the future. However, during practice at a local race in Michigan in between Budds Creek and Southwick, Justin sustained paralyzing injuries after a seemingly small crash.
Since then Justin has been in the hospital, adjusting to his new situation, and going through therapy on a regular basis. Justin’s girlfriend, Maria, has been keeping everyone up to date on the latest, and just the other day, she had some very exciting news. As she wrote in her weekly update, “I was sitting in my class at school when I got a video message from Justin on my cell phone and it was a video of him moving his toes up and down. At first I was in disbelief, and thought it was a muscle spasm so I texted back asking ‘Are you doing that? Is that you controlling your foot?’ a couple of seconds went by and then I got the text saying ‘YESSSSSSSSSS Yes I did, OMG I can move my foot Maria!’”
Obviously this is some very encouraging news, but Justin still needs all the encouragement he can get. So please take the time to visit www.justinweeks381.com where you can get in touch with Justin, make a much needed donation, and get the latest updates on his situation.
