Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Riders Ready For Final Race in Las Vegas

CORONA, Calif. (May 5, 2011) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Broc Tickle and Dean Wilson will be going after championships in their respective regions as the AMA Supercross Lites riders head to Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas for the series finale. Tickle leads the Western Region by two points, while Wilson sits in second in the Eastern Region standings. Both riders have stiff competition from their teammates Josh Hansen, Tyla Rattray and Blake Baggett, who have either won races or finished on the podium throughout the season.

In the Western Region, Tickle’s consistency has helped put him in the position of points leader as the series heads into the final round. He has only finished off the podium twice, with those results both fourth-place finishes.

“After Salt Lake City, I told myself that I was just going to have a fun week of riding,” said Tickle. “I put a lot of pressure on myself to do well, but I know what I have to do in Las Vegas. I have one goal and I am confident that I can do well.”

Tickle’s Western Region teammates Hansen and Rattray will be looking to end their season with a good result. Hansen currently leads the region with the most wins and hopes to add one more victory to his season results.

“I know I lost my chance for the title in Salt Lake City, but I would like to end the season on a good note,” said Hansen. “I’ve had a tough year with injuries and crashes and it would be nice to have something nice to remember about the season.”

In the Eastern Region, both Wilson and Baggett have collected wins over the past eight races and are looking to put another win in the books for 2011. While Wilson is 20 points out, he goes into Las Vegas with a good attitude about his chances at the championship.

“I know the championship is a long shot, but if I know I do everything I could by winning, it will be a good way to end the season,” said Wilson. “I haven’t been the most consistent and it’s hurt me. I didn’t give up when I had some bad races and I am able to at least have some sort of shot at the title going into Las Vegas.”

In years past, the championships for each region have been decided as the team entered the race at Sam Boyd Stadium. This year, what would have been heat races have turned into the regions main event. The top 20 from each region will race in a 15-lap main event and then the top-10 from that main event will face-off in a 10-lap shoot out.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Tickle holds the Western Region lead by two points with 165 points. Hansen follows in third with 151 and Rattray is in sixth with 111. AMA Supercross Lites, Eastern Region rider Wilson is second in the points with 165, while teammate Baggett is fourth with 134.
