In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We’ll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
What do you do when your subject is late to a photo shoot? Improvise and make the best of the cards you are dealt! After shooting Shane McElrath at his home, we headed to a secret location in the hills to shoot the April issue cover. Shane had to swing by the GoPro/Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/KTM race shop first to pick up his bike and that’s where it all went wrong. Typical SoCal traffic delayed his arrival and the sun was already beginning to set as we snapped our first shot. All told, Shane hit this berm less than a dozen times before we were in complete darkness, but the results were amazing! This isn’t the photo that found its way onto the cover, but one of my favorite outtakes.
Congrats on your first TransWorld Motocross over, Shane-sama!
