Everyone has their own holiday tradition and ours is no different. After the bones of the bird are picked clean and the itis subsides on Thanksgiving night, we jump in the motorhome and head to Red Bull Day in the Dirt. But we aren’t alone, because hundreds of families and friends join us at the weekend two-wheel off-road festival at Glen Helen Raceway in Southern California. The entry form for this year DITD just landed in our mailbox and the nineteenth running of the fastest party in town should provide more excitement than ever before.
There are the classic events, like your skill level GP, the Bossa Nova three-man team challenge, and the Moto A Go-Go, but we’ve got our eyes on a few others on the schedule.
Think you’re the fastest starter on the gate? Then face off against the competition in the Friday Night 805 Beer Drag Races. Sounds like this will be equal parts sketchy and entertaining.
Have some vintage iron in the garage? Bring it out for the Hell On Wheels Scramble at the TT Track. Our staff has claimed a couple of trophies in this category and it’s the perfect chance to pre-game for Saturday night’s party.
Still like racing dirt bikes after two long days in the saddle? Then test your true grit with the Coup de Grace, when you have hours to ride the sandy Glen Helen circuit at its roughest and toughest. A post-moto beer has never tasted better…
If you plan on racing, then now’s the time to register because classes fill up quick. The complete schedule of events and online entry form can be found at dayinthedirt.com. Also, you should save up a few bucks and buy some of the merch and gear offered at the Fasthouse pop-up shop. We caught a glimpse of a few pieces and have to say that this year’s kit look almost too good to get dirty.
