We ran into Gaerne’s Bob Rathkamp at Los Angeles County Raceway today, and he let us take a look at the new React boot, a $300 single-pivot boot that replaces the well-liked Fastback boot.

The React has a cool, sleek look. The buckles were beefy and easy to open and close, but had very positive action at the same time. Internal padding is abundant.

Our favorite feature about the React was the single pivot, located on the inside of the ankle. The rubber on the insides of the boot seemed very durable and will certainly grab plenty of traction.

i'll stick with my sg10's, but great lookin' boot! gaerne is the only way to go for sure! everyone else(alpinestar) is too busy sellin t-shirts at pacsun to make a quality boot anymore

  • soga Says:

    You are stupid!

  • guest Says:

  • pug Says:

  • blast1out Says:

Boot looks sweet. I've had my Alpinestar tech3's for 3 years now, and I think it's time to get some new ones.

  • RB926 Says:

I loved the Fastback boots, but when the plastic around the steel pivot screw wore down it ate my CRF frame for lunch. It would be nice if the pivot could be replaced when this happens. Great soles and support though and they did last 2 years. The new boot looks good, but I see that screw!

  • isaac Says:

prob about the same difference as the tech 10 to the tech 7 that would be my guess, i still love my SIDI's

  • uncle sam Says:

Ive have 5 pairs of a-stars and I admit their not as good of quality as gaerne they cost more and their made in china. gaerne's are better. get over it.

  • 104 Says:

garenes are awesome iv had my SG 10s for 2 years and they are still fresh and the sole isnt even to worn and i ride twice a week so they are the only boots i will buy

  • 101 Says:

i have the sg12 and they suck. i had teck 10. alpinestars are the best boots out there

  • jim Says:

I have owned both the sg10 and sg12. My tech 10.s are hands down the best boot ive ever worn.

  • Guest Says:

theres a pair in white in the background.

  • Tmoney11 Says:

tech 3's dont last. i have holes in the bottom of mine.

  • 2Smoker Says:

Had my pair of SG10 for a good few years now and they still looking pretty good. I got them when they just released the SG10's. I have never tried Alpinestars but I am very happy with the life I have gotten out of my Gaerne's!

  • jim Says:

I should add… As long as you are willing to sacrafice safety for mobility the tech 10.s are comfy. The sg10 and sg12 are far better built, longer lasting, and most importantly they are a more protective boot.

I bought a new pair of SG 10 and the pivot kept breaking on them. I had to send them back twice and pay for the shipping to get them fixed. These boots broke after wearing them six times, and broke again after wearing them about another eight times. All Gaerne did was take the screw out and screw it back into the pivot that had stretched over the head of the screw. I paid $350.00 or so dollars plus all together $40.00 some dollars in shipping to get them fixed. I have not worn them since they fixed them last time because they will just break again. These boots are absolute junk and I will never buy Gaerne again. Bought a pair of Tech 10s and I love them and have had no problems. I will try and sell the SG10s at a loss to some sucker that will take the junk of my hands. Terrible customer support from Gaerne also when trying to work with them.

    Gaerne>AplineStars

  • SO CAL RIDER Says:

ron i dont know what yur doing with yur boots but they shouldnt be breacking like that. i"ve had my sg-10s for 2 years and i have no complaints and they are still really comfortable and durable as hell. sure i would like to try some tech 10s to see if there any better but why would i when my boots still feel like there fresh out the box.

  • DAC Says:

I love my SG10's. I have had them for 2 years and no problems what so ever.

  • SD619 Says:

well you must not ride very hard bud!! dont get too worked up over there!

  • Ron Says:

All I did was put them on my feet and ride with them like they were meant for. I should have been offered a new pair or my money back on them, but instead received no comment and the same pair of junk boots. I live in Michigan and rode the Vet Nationals series. When I drove all the way to Millvile to race my boot broke on me and I could not ride the rest of the races I had. The last thing you expect to break are your freaking boots. I packed a ton of spare parts but no extra boots. I told the fine people at Gaerne this and they could of cared less. I bought into all the hype of these boots are a perfect 10 from the magazines. Now I am out $400 dollars of my hard earned cash, and all I have to show for it is two garbage pair of boots. Thanks Gaerne you really know how to treat people. Total and complete junk

  • frr Says:

you must never ride mine were toast in a year

  • mxkid247 Says:

i agree completely 101 i have the sg12's and they suck i loved my tech 10s definatly getting the teck 10s again next year

  • pc983 Says:

i just got a pair of fastbacks last fall, for i am a weekend woods warrior. I wish i had the extra ankle support. Has anyone ever had problems with tcx pros wearing out quickly???

  • #1 mx driver in Nor Says:

    the white ones looks great!

  • YamhaRacing486 Says:

    those are amazing

  • sk212 Says:

i have TCXs, haha all these gaerne and alpinestar guys have nothing on my boots, i absolutely love my TCXs. For me the gearne's toe box gets too soft and beat up, my dad has a set and the only part thats still stiff if the plastic, barely. i had Tech 8s and those things weighted about 15 pounds each it felt like and they were too bulky. for me i like the TCX, they have a very hard sole, actually took a full day of riding to break the soles in, but ive had them all year and i love them, they arent gettting flexy and no pinch points developed. ive worn tech 10s of a buddys but they arent good enough to spend like 550 dollars on. i ride full time. 3 times a week and race sundays and my TCXs have been great. i have the PRO2s but they make the COMP2 thats the same boot without the inner bootie, whatever floats ur boat cuz their the same boots.

  • man Says:

I HOPE YOU GUYS ARE WRONG, I JUST ORDERED TECH 10s today after saving up for years to get rid of my CHEAP FOX F3 boots.

  • uncle sam Says:

tech 10s were an ok deal at their old price but their not even close to being worth 580…something dollars. that makes them the most expensive boot out there and their definitely not the best. that being said I like mine their comfy and I got a good deal on them

  • AF#2 Says:

I agree with that, now all they need to do is get rid of the steel end-cap that destroys the casing on the bikes.

  • chuck Says:

Rode with the tech 8's for years, then tried the tech 10's from a buddy. I absolutely hated every pair of Alpinstar boot I owned! The ankles would blow out in 4 rides. So I finally switched to the SG 10, and have never been happier! Had the boots for 3 years and they are still holding up just fine. Only boot that the ankle area has held up and offers great feel. The SG 12 seems like an even more refined boot. I would recommend everyone to try on all the different boots at a shop and go with what fits your feet best. keep in mind the ankle hing systems offer greater protection!! I love Gaerne's.
