Ryan Dungey to ride for Target this weekend at hometown Supercross race in Minneapolis
March 14, 2008, Minneapolis – Target is proud to announce a new partnership with motocross athlete Ryan Dungey, marking the brand’s entry into motocross racing.
“I’m really excited to be riding for Target. It’s a company that I have a lot of respect for and am honored to be their first motocross race athlete. I’m looking forward to a long partnership and accomplishing great things together,” said Ryan.
With an impressive record already, including wins at the ’07 East/West Shootout, ’08 Anaheim #1 and #2 in the AMA Lites Division and an impressive 4th place finish in his Supercross class debut last month, many view 18-year-old Ryan as one of the sport’s next stars.
“Ryan is a great fit for our team and the perfect extension of our brand in motocross. In addition to having an impressive racing record already, Ryan’s future is bright and we are really looking forward to growing with him, and with motocross racing,” said Troy Michels, senior ambassador for Target Lifestyle Marketing.
Fans will see the Target bullseye on Ryan’s helmet and gloves beginning this weekend at the AMA Supercross Series stop in Minneapolis. This event is especially important, as Target is based in Minneapolis and Ryan will be riding in front of his hometown crowd.
Ryan joins Target’s established team of action sports athletes, which includes snowboarder and skateboarder Shaun White, freestyle motocross athlete Nate Adams, freeskier Simon Dumont, freeride mountain biker Alex Prochazka, BMX rider Kevin Robinson and BMX legend Mat Hoffman.
Ryan also rides for Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki, Answer Racing, One Industries, Nike 6.0, Gaerne, Oakley, Asterisk and Leatt Brace.
