With the start of the 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship just days away, riders are doing all they can to get their last practice laps in before getting behind the gate at Hangtown. Clicking off laps can be a bit of a gamble, especially at the busy Southern California tracks, but it’s one of the sport’s necessary risks. We’ve gotten word that earlier today (May 12th) Josh Grant suffered a hard crash while riding at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park, was knocked unconscious, and was taken out of the facility in an ambulance. We’ll share more about the Discount Tire/TwoTwo Motorsports/Kawasaki rider’s status as we learn more.
Grant was taken from the track yesterday to a nearby hospital. We’ve heard that he bit his tongue in the crash, hard enough that it required stitches. He took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to address the situation with quick updates that read:
“Well I have to say someone was watching over me today! Really sore and beat up got my tongue sewn back on. Hope to be on the hangtown gate!
And thank you to everyone that helped me at the track today.. Except for the idiot posting pics
The team reportedly plans to have Grant on the starting line this weekend for the first round out the Nationals.
