Here’s something we’ve waited to post for a while. Red Bull KTM has announced a contract agreement with Trey Canard that makes the former 250 National and 250 Supercross champion their third rider in the 450 Class alongside Ryan Dungey and Marvin Musquin. The news comes after months of speculation, a thank you video from Honda for the decade Canard spent on red bikes, and Dean Wilson’s departure from the Red Bull KTM team.
Canard spent much of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship on the sidelines due to practice crashes but is now rested and ready for the upcoming season with the team.
Press Release from Red Bull KTM
KTM Motorsports is pleased to officially welcome Trey Canard to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team for 2017. The Oklahoma native will race a KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION alongside teammates Ryan Dungey and Marvin Musquin in the AMA 450 Supercross Championship and AMA 450 Pro Motocross Championship.
Canard comes to the KTM family with a list of accomplishments under his belt, including a 250SX East Championship and a 250 MX Championship, in addition to race wins and multiple podium finishes in the premier 450SX and MX divisions. Known for his positive attitude and great determination, Canard’s READY TO RACE mentality is a great fit for the championship-winning Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team.
Canard: “I’m extremely excited to join the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team. It’s a fresh start for me and I’m hopeful that I can make the most of this great opportunity. Trey is a great guy and I think his dedication to wanting to be the best he can be, coupled with his personality, is a good fit for our team.
