TWMXRS El Dorado Series | Milestone MX | Round Three
We have officially passed that halfway point in the 2017 El Dorado Race Series, presented by SPY, as round three of the five stop series is in the books. Milestone MX played host to the event and since the Riverside County facility is one of Southern California’s most popular riding destinations we expected nothing less than a large turnout of riders, and that’s exactly what we got! Even more rain was expected to hit So.Cal on race day, so in the best interest of the racers round three was rescheduled Sunday to Saturday to avoid yet another mud race. With over 500 racers going to battle on the newly updated Milestone MX racetracks along with some great weather conditions, it was another exciting weekend at the TWMXRS.
Facing adversity is something that every motocross racer experiences throughout their career and it can come in many different forms. Connor Giardina faced his fair share of adversity leading up to round three, as he encountered bike problems and was forced to deal with a motor swap just before the event in order to stay in championship contention. Giardina has been a TWMXRS attendee for quite some time now, but over the last year or so the Yamaha rider has really stepped up his game on and off the racetrack, and it’s evident in his results. Giardina put on an absolute clinic and went on to sweep a total of six motos in dominant fashion. Not only did the number 101 obtain overalls in 250 Intermediate, 450 Intermediate and Schoolboy Thru 17, but he was awarded with the “SPY Breakaway Rider” award for his relentless efforts.
Each round of the TWMXRS brings out some of So.Cal’s most talented amateur racers as they fight for top honors amongst their competitors. Another impressive performance came from mini class ripper Dilan Schwartz, who logged a total of six moto wins! The Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki rider had no problem hanging it out anytime he was on the track to reach the checkered flag first and he was rewarded with overalls in Open 85/150F Supermini, Big Wheel Open 85/150F and 125 Two-Stroke Open.
Another impressive performance at Milestone MX belonged to TWMXRS frequent flier Sean Lipanovich, as he too logged multiple moto victories; four to be exact! Lipanovich had to work for those moto wins though, as Johnny Jelderda and Collin Shiner kept him honest throughout the day. Lipanovich went on to claim the overall in 450 Pro, as well as Pro-Open.
Thanks to all who joined us this weekend at Milestone MX for round three of the TWMX El Dorado Race Series and we look forward to seeing you all again at Cahuilla Creek MX on March 12 for the penultimate round. See ya there!
