Here it is folks, the moment you have been waiting for. Were all of those rumors about Yamaha’s new bike true? We think you will be happy to learn that many of them were not far off. Introducing the 2010 YZ450F. Handling and performance aside (expect a first impression soon) this is certainly a different looking motorcycle.

I think this bike is gonna be a serious contender for best 450 this year, the changes made seem like they will really help overall. Check the videos on yamaha's site, James doesn't look so comfortable going through the whoops on the bike, but he says he can do stuff on this bike that he couldn't on last years stock bike.

Looks awesome! Maybe this design will help from smashing your exhaust too!
September 8th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
u watch next year everyone will be copying yamaha
September 8th, 2009 at 5:43 pm
doesn't matter for hte outdoors..james doesn't ride them…maybe jlaw or grant..stupidcross doesn't count..

I see Bubba going undefeated in Supercross.

i have to say wats with tornado exhaust. i mean they talk about straight exhaust and by adding that its gona add a few pounds. enless it helps on the sound. i think its kinda gay and not very many people r gona copy it for a long time

Looks like some of the engineers and designer at Yamaha where old Cannondale fans.. For any of you who may know, they too tried to do the reverse head design.. Let's hope this new YZ isn't a flop.. Looks pretty rad, I give it that..

I like the idea of having the air box up front, but it looks like the air filter is going to be hard to service. Remove the seat and the tank? Kinda bummed no e-start, but maybe too much to ask with all the other changes. Maybe next year…
September 8th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
Lower fuel capacity might be a bummer for enduro dudes (1.6 gallons as oppose to 1.8 last year) — without the option of a larger tank (at least in the immediate future). Eight pounds heavier too. Seems like it should be lighter. Not to nitpick. Overall, I think it's awesome, and will only get better with time.

I'll sell you one for 8K.
September 8th, 2009 at 8:08 pm

I'm always skeptical of anything "new" like this. I'm not lining up to get one yet, whenever something radical appears in motocross it's either an immediate hit or it sucks and is swept under the rug. I doubt we'll see any manufacturers copy this anytime soon. It takes three or more years to design a new engine and Yamaha probably patented the hell out of this. I'll wait and see where it goes, besides I don't like Yamaha's styling anymore.

Dont we go through this every year.. And stuipidcross??? WTF is that? any way Regardless of this bike some one needs to step up..Flat out ive been a JS1 and RC fan for years but no one seems to want it as bad.Okay maybe RV. This new Yam is nice, kinda reminds me of a R1.Im sure it will be dailed come Jan.. Yamaha should pick up Alessi and let him ride it for next out door season.
September 8th, 2009 at 9:34 pm
this is THE coolest bike YET !!!, some great ideas made into reality by Yamaha….BUT how do u get to that air filter ???
September 8th, 2009 at 9:38 pm
i cant stand to hear the "Cannondale" comparsons, this is 2009 not 1999, the cannondale was set to flop, they make good pushbikes and should stick to that
September 8th, 2009 at 9:46 pm
Bike costs $8000 check the yamaha site
September 8th, 2009 at 9:53 pm
lol can this bike even run 30 minutes + 2laps got a small tank. Just cause JS7 doesnt look comfortable doesnt mean the bike doesnt feel stable.
September 8th, 2009 at 9:56 pm
Where the hell is everyone getting this 10 G price tag from? It might be a pretty radical new design but it's going to be 9,999. Stupidcross! dbone you probably have never even rolled out onto a supercross track. You should try it sometime and tell me how it goes.
September 8th, 2009 at 9:57 pm

Take a good look at yamaha's newest catastrophe!
its a backward suzuki motor……gay
anyone who grips hard with their legs in turns is gonna bust that airbox open.
the exhaust pipe looks like claymation gone horribly wrong.
trying to contend with Honda……not gonna happen.
September 9th, 2009 at 12:23 am
Just look on the Yamaha website folks, the blue/white model sells for $7,990 while the white/red sells for $8,090. Where the heck are you getting 10K from?
September 9th, 2009 at 2:29 am
This bike has been tested in japan for the past 2 years! this is the best bike to ever come out of japan!.
September 9th, 2009 at 11:05 am
He looks very comfortable on the bike to me! Remember he's riding a bike in stock trim on the promo video and it's a new machine. I think he looks really good on the bike, and he is really calm when he talks about it. A quiet calm that would almost make you believe that he will be unstoppable!
September 9th, 2009 at 3:55 pm
I dont believe! RV#2 Gonna put some pressure on him
September 9th, 2009 at 5:41 pm
$8000?? great. I think here in Hungary it is gonna cost around $11100.That is why I like Hungary
September 10th, 2009 at 3:22 am
Yamaha is who cracked the four-stroke frontier.. remember… 1997 # 19 on the YZ 400. They won a supercross in the bikes debut… And 12 years later now we all ride a bike which is a spawn of that 400. Yamaha doesnt do anything unless they're doing it right. I'de be surprised if many of the guys here even knew who #19 was without google.
September 10th, 2009 at 3:26 pm
ill sell you one for $9,999
September 10th, 2009 at 3:28 pm
maybe not next year but give it a few years
September 10th, 2009 at 3:35 pm
its different, but maybe the design will catch on and others will follow, the old 06 450 still comes alive ill sit back and wait another year.
September 10th, 2009 at 6:49 pm
dbone's a goon..
September 10th, 2009 at 9:05 pm
Doug Henry!!!! And i did even have to google it.
September 10th, 2009 at 9:52 pm
It's been that way since its inception… EVERYONE copied Yamaha
September 12th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
He wore # 20 in 1997
September 15th, 2009 at 1:51 am
the gas tank is on a hinge that you lift up like a car hood to get to air filter
September 16th, 2009 at 11:19 pm
THAT BIKE IS AMAZING…… IM GETTING THE FIRST AT CHAPARRAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 19th, 2009 at 7:42 pm
no not really cause fuel injection consume 99% of all the gas in the tank as opposed to carberation where it only consumes 60- 75% based upon how well the carberator is jetted
