In between races, we took some time to browse our hard drives and look at photos taken throughout the year. We’ll highlight each shot in a daily post, with the image sized to fit your computer screen or smartphone and described with a small backstory…
It’s hard to believe that in less than a week the 2017 Monster Energy Supercross Series will be over. This season has seemingly been one for the books when it comes to excitement, as there have been more things to talk about following each and every round than ever before including points change-ups, heartbreaking crashes and injuries, drama (on and off the track) and of course the racing action. It seems as if the majority of the action has come from the premier class this season, though, thanks to the incredibly close championship points chase between Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey and Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Eli Tomac.
What originally began as a battle with Team Honda HRC’s Ken Roczen during the opening rounds of the series has now transitioned into another fight for the defending champ, but this time with the #3. The 2017 Supercross Series started off a little rough for the Colorado resident, but Tomac quickly made up for lost time ultimately moving into the points lead. However, that all changed last weekend in East Rutherford, NJ, as Tomac struggled to get around the extremely technical course. When it was all said and done, Dungey had moved back into the points lead, and now has a nine point lead over Tomac. Needless to say, I think this weekend’s finale in Vegas is a race you won’t want to miss.
