WMA: First Moto
Red Bull Honda rider, Ashley Fiolek, grabbed her fifth holeshot in a row, followed by Honda of Houston’s Jessica Patterson, Team Green Kawasaki rider Sarah Price, and Sheri Cruse. After the first lap, it became quite clear that the two riders out front meant business, as they quickly separated themselves from the rest of the pack. Behind the lead two, Price was putting in an excellent ride in third until her bike began misfiring and she dropped way back in the pack.
As the laps clicked off, Fiolek led the battle between herself and Patterson, holding off her rival lap after lap. But Patterson was not about to let Fiolek go, hounding her every move until she saw an opportunity. Finally that opportunity came with only about three laps remaining, with Patterson sneaking around the red number one plate for first. On the final lap, a moto win seemed inevitable for Patterson, but in the sand section just before the finish line, Fiolek saw a chance to get back around jumping a tricky set of doubles through the . Fortunately for her, the setup, which she had not tried since practice, worked and she came out on top in just the last few yards before the checkers.
WMA: Second Moto
Ashley Fiolek took another holeshot but was overtaken shortly thereafter by rookie Sarah Price, redeeming herself from her bad luck in the first moto. Unfortunately though, the bad luck was handed off to another rider, Patterson, who was taken down in the first turn. To make matters worse, she had trouble restarting her machine, destroying her chances for a decent overall finish. Out front, Price and Fiolek put on a great show for the first few laps, until Price seemed to lose some steam and would eventually fade back to fourth. Fiolek would go onto claim the moto win and overall victory for the day, followed very closely by Sheri Cruse, who also had her best finish of the season, along with Vicki Golden in third. Patterson had an excellent recovery, starting dead last to finish seventh by moto’s end for fourth overall while Sarah Whitmore would round out the top five overall.
Overall Results
1) Ashley Fiolek 1-1
2) Sherri Cruse 3-2
3) Vicki Golden 5-3
4) Jessica Patterson 2-7
5) Sarah Whitmore 4-6
6) Elizabeth Bash 6-5
7) Penni Cyrus 8-9
8 ) Sarah Price 15-4
9) April Zastrow 10-10
10) Kimberly Kocher 7-13

Really, Chad isnt worth backing? If i remeber correctly Chad has beat Dan every moto this year. Seems like to me that Chad is the better rider, and has better results.
Also, i dont remember hearing any sob stories from J-Law, More of I don't give a Fu**, we'll get'em next time stories.

Alessi didn't get the holeshot in the first moto. He was 3rd coming around the first turn but passed both Short and Tedesco for the lead in about 3 corners.
June 8th, 2009 at 7:13 am
Dude did you even watch the race. When Chad passed Reardon it made Reardon look like he was just in the way. Chad took the corner wide and still beat him out of the turn. Give up Haters Chad is one hell of a rider.

Congrats to Mike Alessi for getting his first 1-1 overall in the 450 class. Especially last year coming in second all year to James Stewart and then crashing hard nearly getting ran over by the whole field! My hat off to Mike for getting a 1-1 agian.

We would if we could. MX Sports limits video permission since Speed has TV rights to the Nats. Expect Mt. Morris pit vids from us next week though.

I love a good bump and run race. Anytime they get close, that is racing people. Who cares if its a little dirty. That keeps the magazine and newspaper and TV guys in business. Rivalry is good for business.

I like chad. He is a good rider. I wish I had half the skills. But I wish I had half the skills of any of the pro riders. Let em race. I think there are too many rules as is.

If, If, If, If! If if's and but's were candy and nuts, everyday would be christmas. What about this if. If Carmichael were here or if Hannah were here, or if Mike Alessi hadn't hurt his knee….. Just deal with the facts. Reed is in the driver seat. He earned it. He is in it, he's not hurt, and is fast. It is a bummer that everyone isn't in it but that's the way it goes. That's also why the championship is more than one race. Over the course of the season the best overall rider will win.

Poor Shorty, nobody pays attention to him even though he is at least one of the top 5 riders on the world…
