Budds Creek is always an exciting round, but the conditions are not usually as dynamic as they were last Saturday. As the gloom seemed determined to take over what started out as a bright and sunny day, the racing and results were anyone’s guess. As it turned out we saw Chad Reed take his first ever outdoor championship, Jake Weimer prove that he is an excellent choice for the Motocross of Nations team, Christophe Pourcel extend his lead in the 250 Class, Brett Metcalfe come oh so close to his first ever moto win (in the mud no less), Matt Goerke and Jake Moss show that they are more than worthy replacement factory riders, and a whole bunch of rookies make everyone know they mean business…Whew! We still have two more rounds remaining, which means 100 points are still up for grabs, so the 250 Championship remains very much undecided. Heading into Southwick, we may see a few surprises in the results as the sand tends to weed out the weak and ill prepared. For now though, here are some of our favorite shots from Budds Creek.

Whats up with the radiator's on the 579 kawi? They look F'd up.

It was probably something like pantyhose slipped over the fins, it keeps mud from sticking.

yep, pantyhose material has long been used as a guard against mud build up on the radiators. 579, by the way, is Blake Bagget who made his rookie debut at Budds Creek and went down in the first turn in Moto 1. He began in about 30th place and and worked his way up to 12th by moto's end…impressive!
